Star Citizen client to be around 100GB

The game better be massive in order to justify that huge number. The patches are going to be as big as AAA games were just a few years ago.

It is have you played it? SC is not meant to be a light game easy to run (or DL I guess) game. 

muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

The game will actually have 4k and 8k textures.

Aaaaand I closed my account and uninstalled current build. Screw that noise, I ain't upgrading my SSD and using up my monthly data cap just for one fucking game

5k native textures? lol

 

No, 8192p is max res for main ship hull textures, but meshes are the big heavyweight, just a small-ish ship like a Hornet is 200 MB including LOD stages. The geometry in Star Citizen is going to be sick, I doubt anyone who frequently flies in even slightly populated areas will be able to run ultra for years after launch.

That's a 6+ hour download for me, and an extra SSD to make sure it loads decently fast. And I haven't even bought it yet.

get an HDD lol who fucking didn't expect this? Have you payed attention to games at all recently? Do you have like 7 games on your SSD?

I still don't even know that much about Star Citizen, other than that it won't be coming out for a while.

loadscreen time thing? That never actually bothered me until BF4, it takes longer than balls to load.

Guess I'll have to clean up my SSD or move Star Citizen to my HDD after it gets up to about 30GB.

You'll probably need Pascal SLI to run the game on Ultra.

I don't think any GPU's that are out right now will be able to handle the full game especially huge battles with capital ships and fleets of smaller ones.

I can barely run the game on low right now.

Probably because 35GB of it was just audio that's why.

^ This, uncompressed .flacs aren't necessary for games... If they were worried, why not high bitrate audio instead...? A lot smaller then a ton of .flacs filled with audio for a game.

but titanfall are a few maps. this is literally space with whole planets and stuff!

Wasn't their excuse something along the lines of the game would perform better on low end systems.
