Why would you need it anyway? A .22 should be enough

A .22 has no stopping power. Can it kill? Sure. Is it accurate? Sure. But it has no stopping power and a shorter affective range.

Also I'm pretty sure it's illegal to hunt bigger game with a .22 in most states as it generally won't kill a larger animal (in a short amount of time) unless hit in a critical spot.

As someone who gets to experience the damage that hogs in Texas do. An AR is the only weapon you can use to put a slight dent in the hog population.

They're an invasive species that is destroying crops and hurting the local economy. There are some restrictions on hunting them, but usually they're killed for population control rather than for food. (I cant speak for what @Jaybird used them for, though)

If I shoot you with a .22 anywhere on your body, you're going to be hurting and if I was smart, I'd be aiming for vital parts. Bullets are going to hurt you no matter what.

 

Stopping power/caliber of bullets shouldn't be a factor for civilian owned firearms, imo. You probably agree with me about that, but I was just responding to what you said.

Law abiding citizens (who this affects) don't shoot and kill other people. Please don't turn this into a nonsensical anti-gun debate. 

if these bullets are unavailable then more people will survive shootings and this wont really affect normal people who dont want to kill other people

As I'm form the UK I don't really know/care about american politics, and I usually quite like obama, but this is absolutely ridiculous, why would banning 1 cailbre be even worth doing? I'm starting to understand why alot of americans hate obama, Looks like its time to go out and buy yourself an AR-10.

I will just stick with the FN FALs i built for that
