Obama plans to BAN 5.56 through executive order

As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.

 

 

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is putting the ban on 5.56mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets and prompting retailers, including the huge outdoors company Cabela's, to urge sportsmen to urge Congress to stop the president.

 

While I know most people here cant legal buy a firearm but for those that can I assume you've already heard this. If not, better grab your suspenders and rush to buy bulk. If passed, this ban with ultimately render the AR platform rifle useless resulting in manufacturers stop mass production and sale to citizen simply because of the lack of ammunition. 

 

While I know Obama has been trying to ban the manufacture of bullets for a few years, he as successfully shut down several lead manufactures, good for the environment but not for people who use led ammo for sport and hunting. 

 

I my self own an AR that i bought last year. If this ban passes I will have a nice wall decoration above my mantel.

Edit: Forbes says it includes .223 but I dont always trust some guy behind a desk in new york. no flame new york. 

 

 

The ATF says it wants to ban M855 ball ammunition, a .223 (or 5.56 mm) rifle bullet that has been used by American citizens for decades. The ATF says it wants to ban this popular bullet because it is “armor piercing.”

It will be overturned sooner or later, he doesn't have any legal authority to do this.

 

In the meantime, time to go to the store. Glad I own a few hundred rounds already.

you will not have a wall decoration but will be using 223 at the very least. I do not agree with what they are doing

As I'm form the UK I don't really know/care about american politics, and I usually quite like obama, but this is absolutely ridiculous, why would banning 1 cailbre be even worth doing? I'm starting to understand why alot of americans hate obama, Looks like its time to go out and buy yourself an AR-10.

That's an expensive ass weapon, with even more expensive ammo than the ar-15.

 

Funny thing is, lead production has nothing to do with XM-88 green tips, as they are steel rounds. Specifically military surplus steel rounds.

 

I guess I'll have to be switching over to the .223 that I hate (not that there is much of a difference lol). That or trade in for an AK, which I'd rather not do because I hate AK's (too rickety, not accurate enough for me, always feel like they're gonna fall apart in my hands)

As someone who gets to experience the damage that hogs in Texas do. An AR is the only weapon you can use to put a slight dent in the hog population.

you will not have a wall decoration but will be using 223 at the very least. I do not agree with what they are doing
