Fundamental Christianity doesn't recognise evolution, which as everybody knows, is a fact. The gay gene is part of our make up, and has been preserved because it clearly has an evolutionary advantage. Marriage by definition is between a man and woman, but the fact that you or anyone would condemn the lawfully recognised relationship between two men or two women is ridiculous. Homosexuality isn't a choice, it's a genetic mutation, just like having brown hair or blue eyes in a genetic mutation.

I found it comical how many times dawkins used the words "if, would have, could have, imagine, could be, might have, suppose, hypothetical". I didn't hear any science in that conversation. Just two pro gay guys having a chat in a coffee shop. Just sayin.

I am against it. But not for the reasons you might assume. I think marriage is a useless institution. I think everyone should be extended the rights and privileges granted by marriage by default. Sure, marry if you want and marry who you want. But it shouldn't have any consequence over what rights you have. I think they should be innate and universal to every person.

*on topic* i kinda live in the center of the gay rights universe for the US, and considering the fact i am bisexual and go to a high-school with a homosexual principal it would be kinda hypocritical for me to be anything but fully supportive of it lmao

It is not that you gain more rights afaik, it just that you are treated as an economical entity together rather then two separate individuals. That could not be done by default, because who do you pair up with? :P

 

On that note, I think that there is a discrepancy in what people talk about here. There is a difference between getting married to someone, and having a ceremony in a church/equivalent. I am all for the actual marriage between two gay people, but I also believe its up to each religion to decide if they want to perform the ceremony or not, because of the same reasoning; its their business, let them decide. But I see no reason against the actual legal part of marriage.
