WD4003FZEX corruption on file system structure

amsga

Hi All,

I recently had a prompt from windows to do a chkdsk on my main HDD (WD Black WD4003FZEX).

Going through Event Viewer I saw the following error message:

A corruption was discovered in the file system structure on volume E:.

The exact nature of the corruption is unknown. The file system structures need to be scanned online.

I got this HDD back in March 2015.

So far CrystalDiskInfo does not show any alarming errors for the HDD.

Should I be concerned?

And if I should, what HDD should I get to replace it for gaming?

Thanks!

That's good.

Probably not. You're keeping backups of any irreplaceable data on another physical device (or the cloud), right? 😉

Just let CHKDSK do its thing. If you start seeing more of these issues, start thinking about replacing the drive.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

A cheap and easy potential solution is replacing the SATA cable. They seem to randomly die on me from time to time

I did enable File History a long time ago to my NAS, but I just recently found out that I lost the ability to configure what files and folders can be added to FIle History in my Windows 11.

Yeah, windows is slowly eroding first party ability to backup systems. They literally say that you should backup to their cloud. It's ridiculous
