If you actually need more than 8c, then yes. The best value for multicore though is the 14700k, but at the cost of power consumption and lacking the framerate stability of 3D v-cache.

7950x3D can nearly match the 7950x while also having a built in 7800x3D. Its the best of both worlds if you tune it properly in the UEFI. 7950x is peak efficient at a 105W, 14900k just simply isn't. TDP locking a 14900k to 150W seems to be its sweat spot, but at a higher performance loss.

is it? or the 14900 k is a better value?

Yes or even 7800X3D, depending on the workload. I don't think 14900k makes sense, both in price and power usage. I would rather spend more on a GPU.

How much productivity? Or gaming?

Remember, the 7800x3d is still an 8c chip.  Do you need a 16c+ monster?

Be realistic with your needs and don't give in to hype and epeen.  Money can be allocated to other things.

Can't imagine what heavy large language models you are computing. I did UE5 development and my 5800X3D was plenty, half the cores of a 7950X3D and also still slower than a 7800X3D.

And you haven't told us why.

Get the 14900k and 4090. You obviously want them, so get them.

Not sure why you're asking for validation here.

In your mind, what does this "better performance" look like? Saving you 2 minutes on an export? 5? an hour?

You don't give prices of each, so it is impossible to say. Is it a good chip? Sure.
