The most upsetting thing about LTT in your opinion ?

TheRisingMyth

The community. I seriously love you guys, but there's some shit you do that drives me fucking nuts. It's blind love for Valve is one and the constant spam in the off-topic, especially announcing arbitrary post milestones that nobody really gives a fuck about are two big things. The main one is the people that take any chance they can to repeat an unfunny joke that's been run into the ground so much that... well, I'm not very good at analogies, but for the love of fucking god, stop with the 'Ubisoft keep on digging' shit. It's reached 'the cake is a lie' levels of tiresome..

What, you don't like the constant "Ubisoft keeps on digging", "PCMR 4 LYFE", "AMD R SPACEHEATERS LOL", "NVIDIA R LIARS LOL", "8320 BEATS EVERYTHING LUL", "Apple is shite LOL", "MICROSOFT IS DAE HITLER" shitposts on this site?

Its what makes these forums home, most of the time.

The most upsetting thing about the forum is that there's people going around with overclockable hardware and not pushing it.

Push and then find a nice stable.

I wish I had known that my board didn't overclock, it was only like a $30 difference though.

I've seen too many fanboys here...

Long time, no see... and yes, @I/O got banned back around September (or was it October) if I recall correctly...

@Builder is back, and @LukaP is reducing activity (blame the 970 issue and the fanboys involved)...

No, he got banned in January.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

If any back and forth dissolves into English becoming a foreign language for me (meaning that people are posting paragraph upon paragraph of garbled mumbo jumbo) then the best idea is to skip over them.

I believe he meant typos, spelling errors, etc, which will turn me away too. He didn't say anything about people disagreeing with him, nor not being able to read posts more than a few sentences.

No, he means what I said. He is just trying to be "clever" about it. He equates long paragraphs as TL;DR.

Garble: reproduce (a message, sound, or transmission) in a confused and distorted way.

Like poor grammar, typos etc.

Can @ThatGuyWhoTwirlsHisPen clarify, please?

Well yes, grammar too, but that's not so important as long as you can effectively convey your message. I meant more along the lines of rambling or people just reiterating what they already said over and over again in a shouting match, because there is a point where it becomes more about the tone and rhetoric of the argument rather than the actual argument. Bringing up rhetoric is only effective if it shifts a discussion back into respectful responses, otherwise it's an annoying chore to sift through a 3-4 paragraph post of that stuff.

And yeah, I didn't say anything about people disagreeing with me, in fact I read the entirety of all responses that I receive. I was actually talking about how it looks to me when other people argue like that.

or people just reiterating what they already said over and over again in a shouting match,

That's the entirety of the active LTT.

Repeating only occurs when one of two things happen in a discussion:

1. the message has been dismissed without reason

2. the message giver does not know how to debate and/or might be wrong.

It is only a fool who assume number 2 is always the reason.

EDIT< there are also shades of grey, but for the sake humanity I won't ramble on about that.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

Just because the internet is abundant with people who behave like dickheads and fail to understand the most basic principles of humour (things don't get funnier the more times you repeat them), doesn't mean I have to tolerate it.

When somone asks specefically for a 4 gran PC and then some people just respond saying you don't need 4 gran for a PC only 1.5 grand bla bla and etc.

In some cases the OP has over-estimated how much they need to spend on building a PC to reach certain level of performance and it wasn't known to them before posting and asking for recommendations. Once you get over about $1500 the diminishing returns hit hard - unless the OP has specific needs/requirements, in which case I agree with you that people need to read the OP. But it also goes the other way, which brings me to my beef with some users of LTT; when the OP doesn't give enough information for anyone to give a proper/valid response/recommendation. What's even worse than that is when people go ahead and make recommendations anyways - which ties into what many others have already stated; bad recommendations. ;)

Anything goes, but it's not like I report anything like that. It's perfectly allowable, but I still find it quite strange that people will make political polls or discussions better suited for outside this forum.

From the CoC:

There are certain sections of the forum designated for "off topic" and "general" posting of posts that may not fall into one of the already laid out sections of the forum. At all times though, this is a tech centered and focused forum.

Now, I don't care if it's tech or not. But if someone's posts something along the lines of "So what are you guy's thoughts on the middle east?1?" on LTT, even in off topic, I find that extremely out of place.

Why does everyone assume that I don't ignore what I don't like or rather what I don't feel is worth the time to comment on for sake of argument? I simply stated that I personally feel that political discussion in LTT isn't something that should necessarily be brought up.

Biased opinions which are impossible to change without adjusting a person's thought process so it isn't an issue with LTT, but every forum I have ever been involved with.

The lack of acknowledging aging but still fully great products >>> R9 290 specifically which are many times an AMAZING value under $250 for fantastic performance regardless of the power draw

In terms of my dislike of the youtube channel it is only a lack of software coverage (not games) that could be intensely useful to people like I was hoping there might be some coverage of the Catalyst Omega driver's features and if they are actually competitive with Nvidia's ShadowPlay and DSR features.

IMHO this is tied for the best online community I have ever seen even with it's faults (which are very minor)

I am addicted to building gaming PCs but I don't have a great reason to stop...yet...

It's as simple as that. What would be your biggest complaint about LTT at this very moment ?

The fact that this is not a community. There are a few (very few) smart guys on here. However, the majority of the members don't seem to give a shit about anything. Posting a quick "Lol" or bashing all sorts of things without thinking. It's like an online kindergarden.

Problem is that Linus seems to not care about the smart people anymore. He clearly cares more about the mindless trolls, since those are the ones who will blindly follow him and generate his clicks. Clicks = income. What makes things worse is that even Luke seems to not be quite as bright and open minded anymore. I used to only watch the WAN show because of Luke's input but unsubscribed months ago, when it was only Ubisoft this and Ubisoft that. As if Ubisoft was the only thing they could have talked about.

Case in point:

News articles on things I could not care less about (new phones, new apple products [unless apple fucks up and gets in trouble, then I care])

The number of console enablers/sympathizers

It's a forum for people with different opinions. A Tech forum, mind you. Not a PC only forum. If that seems unbearable to you, then you might want to start your own forum. Better yet, make it a blog where you can talk to yourself since only your opinion seems to be the right one.

I don't really play many games for gameplay anymore honestly. I play most games just for the graphics.

I hear people go on about how it doesn't matter if you choose AMD or Intel for gaming, but that simply isn't true. Many modern games need the leverage of a faster processor (no, not clock speed) to run optimally, and this goes double for multiplayer games. The real problem is that nobody does CPU benchmarks in the online multiplayer portion of games, so nobody ends up seeing just how much a good processor matters in multiplayer. I can say from experience, an AMD CPU, even the "high end" ones, just don't cut it for multiplayer. To put it in perspective, in BF3 multiplayer (not TDM, I'm talking full 64 player CQ large server on a map such as caspian border), with the same GPU I have now but with a FX 8320 rather than an Intel i7-4790k, I was consistently dropping below 60fps. Not occasionally, but nearly constantly, to the point where it actually broke the experience and it wasn't fun to play. Fast forward to when I upgraded to my current CPU, and now I get around 100fps on BF3 multiplayer with Ultra settings (same setting as before) with no hiccups whatsoever.

So yeah, your CPU does matter for gaming. I'm not saying you need an i7 to have decent performance, just that AMD isn't as "bang for your buck" as most people say it is. In fact, an i5-4430, which is barely more expensive than the FX-8350, would fair better than a FX-8350 in pretty much any multiplayer game.
