Mini-News: Windows 10 will have 2 different web browsers.

GoodBytes

Microsoft confirmed that Windows 10 will have 2 separate different web browser.

microsoft-windows-10-live-verge-_0805.0.

Windows 10 will ship with Spartan web browser, but for legacy support for enterprises, Internet Explorer will be still included.

However, IE is modified to switch between Spartan Engine and IE on the fly, like Spartan web browser.

Spartan uses this switch system for compatibility of websites upon web page request, while IE offers Spartan as well and act the same way, but the difference is that IE will support ActiveX and Browser Helper Objects which some business applications uses, while Spartan won't.

Chrome is one of the worst browsers on the market right now, so I'd get off the bandwagon and try some alternatives.

I swore left right and centre by Chrome, but Chrome is just bad at resource management and loves burning battery for no real reason. Im happy I stopped using it, got a good 2 hours of battery life back just by switching browsers.

Yes of course, you'll be able to download any other browser you'd like, and set the default browser of your choice.

I will definitely give Spartan a chance, really curious to see if they came out with a winner. I just hope the add-on/extension support is Chrome/Firefox like, and that the community will really embrace it.

IE will accidentally open the day I install 10 and then I'll use Spartan forever and ditch chrome.

If it has extension support I'll say goodbye to chrome forever. Only reason i used chrome is because it's what i was used too

Not a surprise to be honest.

My browser history is IE to Firefox to Chrome and now finally Opera on desktop and Naked Browser on mobile.

IE just doesn't cut it for me for features anymore. Firefox is a train wreck of a browser now, flash instantly bluescreens my computer while all the other browsers I've tried don't do that so I know it isn't an issue on my end. Chrome is a resource hungry monster and frankly the layout sucks. I've been using Opera for 1-2 years now, the Speed Dial page is something I use daily and I haven't had any major issues with it, ever.

I use Naked Browser on mobile due to its simple UI and very minimal effect on my battery, best browser I have ever used on mobile. Though it is lacking in the features department, but bookmarks is all I need when it comes to mobile browsing.

I'll give Spartan a chance, but I doubt I'll like it due to the UI and feature list.

I flipped between Opera and Safari before settling on Safari. The handful of extensions I used are available, everything just works. I don't miss having Flash at all. Good goddamn riddance to that thing. Battery life if I was browsing LTT from a full charge would read between 3.5-4 hours; absolutely disgraceful for a rMBP. Once I canned Chrome and only used Safari, the battery life would show between 6.25-6.5 hours from a full charge, and it will actually do that much time if I'm doing browsing.

I honestly think Chrome could've been something special but how the hell Google let it become so goddamn bloated is beyond me. Yet people on this forum and a lot of places draw wood as if its still the light and fast browser it used to be. I would prefer not to burn up all 16GB of my RAM because Chrome can't manage resources and avoid spinning up my CPUs for the hell of it.

I hope there's an option for "Look exactly like Internet Explorer" because that's one of the particular things I want my browser to do and it's not happening in that picture.

I was using IE for almost 3 years before I recently moved to osx and using Safari as my main browser (I actually quite like it) and tbh I kinda miss using IE. Idk why or how to describe it but I just liked using IE. Moved away from chrome(my god that that thing suck balls ram so much) to IE before that and never looked back. I even avoided using Chrome on my android tablet because it just feels clunky.

I wonder will WP get Spartan browser too?

Of course a more powerful and better browser will use more ressources and power.
