The first hump was when I got into folding this year, and the subsequent Summer sprint.

Used the Intel 4th gen w/ GTX 760 system that's currently on Ubuntu this time around (windows before).

Main difference is in my daily system. Went from a RX 5600XT bought during the shortage, to a 3080 12GB FTW3 bought impulsively (in hindsight a little too soon ).

 

Just blown away at the difference in compute.

480 is sporadically crashing again. 18454 and my 480 really don't like each other. Maybe if it crashes that WU enough times it won't give it that WU anymore?

So, about that efficiency thing...

 

I decided to connect my quad GPU contraption up to my Kill A Watt meter, and honestly the results aren't too surprising. This thing is pulling around 650W when all four GPUs are under a full F@h load with the CPU mostly idle. With a full CPU stress test running at the same time (Prime95 Small FFTs) the system peaked at 720W. During the winter this much heat is fine since I don't have to run the furnace, but during the summer I'm going to try to get some more efficient hardware. A single RTX 3080 gets multiple times as many points as this crazy system while using less power, and that means less heat.

800 watts. if no cpu task 650.
