it was a poor joke, fair enough. But it is also an assault, and Will should have been escorted away, and NOT given an Oscar in the end.

 

Yes.. looks like Chris Rock has used Jada quite a lot as the "butt" of his jokes, but to be honest, the way she moves herself forward, and also portraits relationsship will an herself, i guess she does put herself in the spotlight, and that has always been a "green light" to be "made fun off" in theese events.

 

This is just not okay, and i had to pinch myself to see if this was not just staged, to make the oscars relevent again, WELL as a Jerry Seinfeld show. 

 

Seriously THIS is not okay, but there are SO many things that is not okay in the world today, that we accept, based on either the money or fame people have.. at least with Clarkson, they fired his ass.. although in the end that ended up make him even richer.

If anything, it shows that he has some personal insecurities over the situation.

he was laughing before he saw his wife, he realized she didnt like the joke.

people usually get affected when someone talks about their appearance a lot. It wasnt a nice joke by whoever that guy is but will should have not slapped him, sure screaming at him kinda makes sense.

I just read an article about this, funny enough that this is the first topic I see after returning to the forum (Google, how do you plead?).

 

To me, it looked staged. Punches in WWE look more real than this alleged punch.

 

If it was real, why wasn't there anyone holding Will Smith back or prevent him from going on stage? Surely, if it was real, they didn't think he would give Chris Rock a hug after what he said?

 

If you know Will Smith's story, he fought hard and has a lot of love for his wife. This doesn't justify his act in public television, if it was real, but it's certainly understandable.

watching the video in real time, it does look a little weird with how stiff Will's hand and movement is, but going frame by frame, the hit does line up with Chris' reaction.

Now that you mention it, I rewatched it in slowmo and it does look like there was contact. Will moved too fast for the cameras to catch the moment.

 

It's funny though how Chris leaned forward in anticipation of the slap.

Apparently there's been some tensions between Will and Chris for a while, I guess this just made him snap.

Umm how do I say this without breaking rules.... If you think this was staged you need to tighten your thinking cap a little more. This is akin to flat earth or moon landing conspiracies.

 

Let's look at this from Will's point of view. This is the biggest night of my career. I'm the favorite to finally win the Oscar. Let me look like a complete maniac, tarnish my reputation, risk my career, and potentially put myself on studio and director blacklists just so an award show that no one is watching anyway can get a small bump in ratings even though it won't benefit me in anyway.

 

Yeah makes total sense.

I'm not fully buying it either but it doesn't look authentic imo. I mean Will Smith laughs at the joke at first and takes a few seconds before stepping on to the stage and slapping him. Also the other dude positions himself in the best way possible to get slapped with hands behind his back and everything. Sure you could say he wasn't expecting it but to me it just looks way too odd for it to be authentic.
