How many PCs do you have in your household?

Mister Woof

I've got 2 currently in active use, my new rig (5600X + 3070) and my laptop (Ryzen 4700U). I've also still got my old rig (4770K + 2x R9 290X) though that's not in use and I'll probably try to sell it soon.

I only have 2 Desktop PC's.

My PC for doing work/gaming/home theater, which is a 3950x/2080Ti system.

The only other Desktop rig I have is an i3-7100/1050Ti HTPC for mostly music and the odd 4k movie in the living room.

Have 2 laptops for work, one is a random old HP and the other one is a recently purchased Asus Zenbook Duo

Also have a 32TB QNAP TS-451+ NAS if that counts.

Speaking of my NAS, It's getting 75% ish full already, and I've only had it for about 13 months 😐

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

I’d say.. 12?

My Mom has a old Pentium laptop, a 2013 celeron ideapad, and she just got some hop laptop with a 1165g7.

My Dad has a 2012 Pentium laptop, his work laptop (that has a 1050, yet he hasn’t played a single game on it with the 3 years he’s had it lol), and his other work laptop (provided by his work lmao), and he has a really old Celeron machine (about 16 years old) that he uses for linux

My sister has an HP 1035g1 laptop

And I have an old 2009 netbook, an old Lenovo with a skylake i3 (I use it for school), my Acer desktop w/ a R5 1400 and a GTX 1050 (had it for 3 years)

Currently I’m using my HP Pavilion gaming laptop with a 1650 and a 4600h.

I have at least nine assembled and fully functional systems, six of which are in use, that I can think of:

1. Main Rig (Ryzen 7 3800X / RTX 2080 Super)

2. HTPC (Core i7 4790K / GTX 1080)

3. SD HTPC connected to a CRT TV (Core i3 3240 / GTX 275)

4. Dad's Desktop (Core i5 2500K / GTX 770)

5. Dad's Laptop #1 - MSI Apache (Core i7 4710HQ / GTX 850M)

6. Mom's Laptop - Acer Aspire (Ivy Bridge Core i3 of some sort)

Not in active use:

1. Dad's Laptop #2 - HP Pavilion (some early AMD A4)

2. Some old HP/Compaq system I rebuilt into a cardboard box several years ago for shits and giggles (Athlon 64 of some kind)

3. Old IBM that used to be a POS computer at an old job (Pentium 4 of some kind)

I also have enough parts laying around to build at least four computers:

1. two different Z270 motherboards and a Core i7 7700K (likely upgrade to HTPC if the motherboard dies again, I'm not buying another Z97 board)

2. an X470 motherboard and a Ryzen 7 2700 (likely upgrade for Dad's desktop soon)

3. a B85 motherboard and a Core i5 4460

4. an nVidia nForce 590 SLI motherboard and an Athlon 64 X2 6000+

I have plenty of RAM, power supplies, coolers, fans, video cards, and SSDs/HDDs for all of these as well. I'm just short one case.

And if you want to count them, I have three Android tablets in the house (nVidia Shield K1, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1" 2019, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite), as well as three Android phones in use (OnePlus 7 Pro, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL), and at least three more in a drawer. Oh, and I have one really old Athlon XP based PC missing a few parts that was my grandfather's that I can't get myself to get rid of.

Right now I have 6: 3 desktops and 3 laptops:

- AMD Ryzen 5 2400G / 16Gb / RX580 as my main system

- AMD Athlon64 2800+ / 2Gb / Radeon 9600Pro as my retro gaming system

- AMD Athlon 3000G / 16 Gb / igpu as my HTPC

- Intel i7 8565U / 16Gb / igpu as my work laptop (too bad it's the company's property!)

- Intel Celeron "I don't remember which one" / 2Gb / igpu is my partner's old laptop

- Intel Atom Z3735F / 2Gb / igpu as ultra portable 2-in-1 laptop

In addition, over the last few years I built 3 AMD FM2+ A-series based dekstops for my mother and both my in-laws, all of them still working.

(You could tell I love AMD's unbeatable value for money and yeah, you'd be right 😁)

Do consoles count?
If they do, my total becomes 14 - Wii, fat PS2, N64, New Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS.

I don't think so ... if it does, I would have to count my PS2, PS3, PS4 Pro, PSC and xbox 360 ...

Just looked at the title and it says "PCs", not "computers".

Guess I'm stuck with sub-10.

I would have 12 if my parents didn't make me get rid of 3.

Granted, one was never working again (iMac with dead display and power supply), one was a C2D system, and one was a 486.

I got the hard drive from the iMac (it's got some .pages files that I want), the Core 2 Duo, hard drive, SATA cables, and fan from the C2D system, and the 486 from the 486 (Am486 DX2-80), but everything else is gone.

I don't collect PCs or parts for that matter when i don't need them. I sell everything i that is not used. This way i can invest more in my own PC that i actually use 😄

1 Desktop for me

2 Notebooks for my parents

That's about it.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
