We are talking about the fucked up American versions of Pizza. Pizza from Italy is a whole separate category.

The argument that Italy invented pizza at all is extremely weak.  It wasn’t eaten at all there for a very long time and even attempting to order it produced anger and snobbery.  People in other parts of Europe ate it though, and by claiming it they could get themselves one of the euro food monopolies, so they did.  They couldn’t even find any EVIDENCE that pizza was Italian though so they had a contest to find such with a massive cash grand prize.  Big enough to make faking data worth it.  Therefore even though it took multiple YEARS lo and behold data appeared.

imho the only real pizza is American pizza.

From my understanding Italian Pizza doesn't use Tomato based sauce. At least the "Original" one from Sicily. The whole tomato based Pizza came around later.

But American Pizza is a whole category in its own right. We have so many types and varieties. Detroit Style, Chicago style, New York Style, Thin Crust, and Stuffed Crust just to name a few.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

By later do you mean post Roman?  I looked into this once, and there just wasn’t an original anything from anywhere in Italy for a very very long time.  That no tomatos happen would be a foregone conclusion as Any “original” wouldn’t be able to use tomato’s at all as non poisonous nightshade was a new world thing.  Red bell peppers have similar if less severe problems though. I’ll take Italian pizza as a style of pizza. I take it as a really recent one though with such things as Chicago style and New York style predating it. It’s not bad stuff.  Often has slices of fresh mozzarella instead of grated “low moisture part skim” mozzarella which is sort of a different cheese.  There are some really awful styles of pizza.  There is one that uses this replacement artificial  “cheese” not too different  from velveeta (which is clear before it is colored) Kansas City style? I forget.  It’s awful.

this FOMO about graphics card is reely dumb. You're game will look fine with RTX, GTX, FTX, or what ever, what the hell did you do to your card where, now you "have to have" one. You'd have to pretty far back that style. You're talking about Pizza Bianca (blonde pizza). Just the first link because I'm tired of google being bad:

IMO, to some degree, smart phones suck and add stress. Android: here are 999999999999 sounds and notices about someone farting.

The 8-6 or 9-5 burn and churn 'older generation': my life is work. mentality is bullshit. I'm sorry paying people buptkis, or taking buptkis for pay, and saying that like it's some badge or honor is dumb.

The craze over vertical chassies makes no sense. Think about this: a lot of the parts need to sit on something horizontally, getting into that tiny space just sucks. Thermal lake is onto something with https://www.thermaltakeusa.com/level20.html

and the coolmaster case in one of LTT's videos? omg that was just sex with a shaved____ .  Because: as shown on screen? man it looked fun af to make a computer from!

Soft cookies? so damn good!

IPA beer: fantastic!

Budweiser to cook with? strangely good! their beer has a kind of a dirt flavor. Now to drink? IPA is preffered. But cheep af just quaffing beer is great. chilli for a stew durring this plague event is the tits. I at least can get a lot of canned stuff, make several kinds of meals with a fucking huge pot: put some on bread with swiss or and mayo? boom got a sloppy joe! Can mix it with ramen etc.

Now chllie doesn't want a expensive fancy beer or wine, it want's just rum'n coke or 2buck chuck, something you can quaff the ever living shit out of with a stick to your ribs kind of dish.

Thats why a labor shortage is happening in the US. Pay is also on a trend upward. Some industries however will never recover.

I do wonder about automation. will just more people go into the growing pains from this? both in what they feel they want to do, and what they want progress with? More so, if automation is just too good, and discourage people to do such tasks. to the people that hold some of the automated solutions, because of their work is on the line, and could be fired for automating their work, which seems to have happened with a certain few.

NVM, it was all their plans for socialism and communism to take over!!! we got to stop them!!! arrgggh! I'm now an pirate!!!

more rants:

Spoiler

Where there will be massive differences in work, income and living standards. with the global population growing and growing, will we have enough doctors and so on, before those areas are hit with some level of automation? To massive differences in prices due to some being automated and some not, if that will kill even more jobs and income for "reduced" prices by automation? *we live in a society and runs off*

I mean we are already too accustomed to produced foods and meals, with delivery options growing and so on. digital shopping etc.

not quite a fan of IPA, some do, some dont. as in cooking it might be different. (very bitter beer?)

very strong alcohol might have that. else you could get root (seems to have some toxicity to it) or rather ginger beer/ale which is without alcohol but is also a meal 😛

It comes down to costs. But some jobs are not easily replaced by robots. A lot of the labor shortage is due to the older generation checking out of the workforce due to the pandemic mostly. The younger generation are upgrading jobs. Some industries like food service will be out of luck as they have piss poor reputations for treating employees. Those will be the industries that have to automat. Automation also creates jobs in the terms of you need people who can repair the machines. Then there is the jobs that wont be automated. I work in a warehouse, we use no scanners, we barely have a functioning computer system. Its not cost effective for them to put barcodes and such on products. So its likely we will never upgrade to use tech, or if they do its going to still be decades out.

The thing is the economy is always evolving. Its been this way since Globalization took off. Thats what the older generation doesnt understand, when they call the younger generation lazy. The fact is, the jobs that the older generation did for 40 years no longer exist. The younger generation also has to compete with workers in poor counties that have lower wages. Such as China.

The other side of this is the aging population and the low birth rates. Younger generations have lots of debt, mostly student loans. They cant afford to have kids and if they do they have fewer. Women also are choosing a career and having less kids later in life. Between the low birthrates and the boomers and potentially Generation X leaving the labor market, that leaves less available workers.

Iirc soft cookies were a recent invention too.  A company named “Grandma’s” cookies came up with them.  Snack foods companies were driving themselves nuts trying to figure out how to do it.  One guy got a bright idea and simply signed up for the grandmas cookies factory tour.  Turned out the “secret” was just add a ton of vegetable shortening (because it’s not as sticky as animal fat)   Boom.  Grandma’s was out of business in a couple years.

Broccoli is a 1950’s thing on the USA.  Was more or less unknown in the USA until Chef Bouardee (a real dude. Specialized in Italian cooking) heavily promoted it.  It had a bunch of things the American diet lacked at the time, plus it was fairly easy and profitable to cultivate. There’s a chemical in it that humans can’t digest at all which is why “it makes your pee smell funny”. Stuff goes right through you.  Unless it doesn’t and gets digested by bad bacteria. Then there can be flatualance problems.

IPA is piss.  The very name derives from a perversion of the beer recipe so that it would be preserved and stand the long transit to India.  As a matter of course, if you didn't need to preserve it--you wouldn't put that much hops in it.

As a bartender at a brewery in Albuquerque once said to me, "Almost nobody actually likes IPA.  They pretend to like IPA because they think it's hip.  People much prefer sours."

And he's 100% right on that.  Plus, virtually all American bier is piss.  To be fair, several of the mass-produced European beers are also rubbish (Bitburger, Erdinger, Warsteiner, for example).  And anything owned by Ab Inbev is garbage (Stella, etc).  And Czech Budweiser is far, far superior to US Budweiser.

p.s.

And WTF is there 0 American micro-breweries making a legitimate Flanders Brown (Oud Bruin)?  I've found like ONE, and that was up in Alaska--but it tasted more like a sour than Flanders style.

PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD COMPLIANT WITH THE FORUM RULES!!! You might well have an unpopular opinion which is political, discriminatory, or otherwise unfit for the forum, but to avoid ruining it for anybody else, please refrain from posting them here, thanks!

I'll start with an example. I believe that ice cream is better if it is allowed to melt for a short time before eating.

(don't start a flame war, or do, I love arguing)

I believe Intel > AMD

polls have been taken and currently AMD does have more support than Intel, so it is indeed the unpopular opinion

Pretty sure Intel has always > AMD.  The caveat is that Intel sometimes rests on its laurels and gets complacent.  But it has far more reserves to fall back on, far better compliance with its processors, etc.

AMD only looks like a solid pick at the times when AMD is actually beating Intel on price/performance.  The rest of the time, they're just a budget-feature also-ran.

But at least AMD isn't Cyrix.

For the past two generations Intel has been the budget choice lol. Tbh i don't really care about reserves and all that. As long as both of them strive to be the best, we consumers have the luxury of choice. No matter if you go Intel or AMD nowadays, you will have a good performing processor. Most differences in current generations are nit picking. That was nas not the case for the longest time.

But there are so many people taking it all too seriously. Every time there is a new generation by AMD or Intel that outperforms the other by 5% i see new threads talking about "Is it over for AMD?" or "How long before Intel is out of business?".

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I was watching some old photos and I finally remembered this.

Modern American city design sucks a huge ass.

Few years ago I went to visit my relatives in the US. They live in the typical residential neighborhood that can be seen on plethora of the US series. I decided to go to the supermarket which was 2km away on foot and you know, that thing for pedestrians next to those super wide roads? there was none. As soon as I left the street full of houses there was none, nada. WTF? Then I was looking for some public transportation and the answer was f*** you. The only way to make a trip is by car.

In my home country I can walk wherever I want. Cycling is also fine. Small supermarkets, cafes etc. are part of the neighborhood, public transportation is readily available and you can live without car, but in the US it is impossible in almost 90% of the cases. City centers look like exception.

In the country where I currently live my neighborhood is also residential, but there are still supermarkets, convenience stores, rail and bus stations, schools etc. all in the 15min of walking distance. You can live comfortable life without car. Meanwhile in the US everything is designed around cars and that just sucks.

The whole “stroads” thing is another one.  The catch all term is “urban sprawl”.   Cities built pre automobile work better without automobiles and cities built for automobiles don’t work well without them.  Most North American cities were built post automobile.  Only a few on the east coast weren’t.  It’s a world wide issue, but one concentrated in the US because it’s where mass produced automobiles came from. Countries with older cities build much smaller automobiles with tighter turning radiuses because streets are often narrow and winding because they were not built for cars.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Well, they still suck. Why is there no balance? In EU lots of “built for cars” places are being transformed into the pedestrian areas. It CAN be done if there is a will to do so.
Also I disagree it being a worldwide problem. EU is quite fine. Most of Asian countries as well. Some of the Asian countries (Japan, Taiwan and China for example) eliminate need for a car even for the longer distance traveling because of the high speed railway systems.
