Just for fun boot a live linux. If it works there windows issue, if it still wont work HW issue..... Plain and simple.

This is something I tried.  It did not work, which implied it was a driver issue. Win10 autoupdated something.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I currently have access to build 2004 and using it on my desktop and i'm using a beta Nvidia driver. 450.12

WDDM 2.7 and have Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling. I have noticed games feel more snappy and watching videos on YouTube drops less frames when unpausing and pausing 4K video. Games feeling more snappy might just be a placebo but it has been mentioned that WDDM 2.7 and HAGS (lol) improve performance for games

System Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X

GPU: Radeon RX 7900 XT

RAM: 32GB 3600MHz

HDD: 1TB Sabrent NVMe -  WD 1TB Black - WD 2TB Green -  WD 4TB Blue

MB: Gigabyte  B550 Gaming X- RGB Disabled

PSU: Corsair RM850x 80 Plus Gold

Case: BeQuiet! Silent Base 801 Black

Cooler: Noctua NH-DH15

Can disable automatic driver update. Also update your motherboard bios, they sometimes will fix those odd problems, like what you're having.

Some monitors actually come with drivers, can try installing that.

Intel Xeon E5 1650 v3 @ 3.5GHz 6C:12T / CM212 Evo / Asus X99 Deluxe / 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 3000 Trident-Z / Samsung 850 Pro 256GB / Intel 335 240GB / WD Red 2 & 3TB / Antec 850w / RTX 2070 / Win10 Pro x64

It’s a z97 asrok bios.  I suppose I can try though.  I was thinking that would predate the AMD bios horror.  I’ll check it anyway.  Possible there’s a newer one.

Intel WDDM 2.7 is available already. I wonder when Nvidia will release theirs.

2.7? Old news. 2.9 is out by Microsoft to allow GPU acceleration support in WSL 2!

(Well ok end of the year it will be publicly available, so Nvidia has time.)

Wish it was also available on the 6th Gen Core i3 chips as well. Only WDDM 2.1 on the HD Graphics 520. *sigh* Hopefully, I can turn this on once AMD releases their driver. I wonder if it's supported on Hybrid Graphics...

Wait. 2.9 is already en route? Not even 2.8? That's uh... quite the move there...

Microsoft tried WDDM 2.8, but it had a strange Start menu. So they went with 2.9

New hardware accelerated memory scheduling option in windows lowers my fps instead of increasing performance, little no effect on minimum fps while reducing maximum fps by least 30 to 50 fps

When enabled, it allows the GPU to managed its memory scheduling instead of Windows. So, Nvidia, AMD and Intel needs to do its own optimizations. As it is a new feature it will probably take a bit of time before NVIDIA, Intel and AMD has their drivers optimized for all its supported GPUs.

The Update Tool seems to be broken for me. It keeps timing out every time I try to run it. The update is working for me through Windows Update.

Also got a laugh when I downloaded the Update Tool and Edge flagged it as being unsafe.

It wasn't showing for me in Windows Update either. Tried the Upgrade tool and it failed so I forced an update by downloading the Media Creatioon Tool, running it and selecting Upgrade This PC.

Took about 20 minutes, everything is fine as far as I can tell.

Actually, for the first time ever (that I can remember) it hasn't reinstalled all the bloatware from the Windows Store (yet at least, it might pull them silently) and it hasn't even reset my default app permissions.

My PC is EXACTLY as it was pre upgrade.

Make a clonezilla image of windows drive and roll it back if it fails thats what i do.

I pause my update for 3 weeks from now. I will do a backup with AOMEI backupper on my external usb 3 2TB hdd. I just hope this update will not going to brick my pc. I don't want to spend 25mins+ to restore my pc from my backup.

I just keep nothing of any value on my C drive so if Windows ever does shit the bed a reinstall later and I'm back up and running with an hour. TBH I was hoping (just a little bit) that it would destroy my install as its been running a little weird for a while and I wanted an excuse to reinstall. Guess I'll wait and see how it is post update.

Please remember that clicking the "check for updates" button means you might download pre-release software thst hasn't been fullt tested yet. If you want a stable OS please wait for the update to show up by itself, or at the very least wait a week or so.

Indeed no crapware reinstall, and minor thing but the task manager preferences weren't reset either for the first time.

And it is finally released!

Microsoft will be releasing it in waves, but if you can't wait, you can get it via Media Creation tool.

Big Advice:

If you are using your PC for work, I would highly recommend waiting for your wave or weekend, so that you have no down time from, if shit hits the fan.

That said, once you upgrade be sure to check for update after to ensure the latest cummulitative update and drivers.

And here we go with exact same bullshit I was experiencing with preview. Dumb Windows downgrading my GeForce driver to some ancient version from 2019 for no good reason. I literally installed very latest driver for version 2004 that NVIDIA released today and this dumb OS just reverts it back to some prehistoric version on next boot. Slow fucking clap. And is till don't have any mention of those new graphic settings anywhere. Coz GTX 1080Ti is apparently too old or some shit... Also my god, when will Microsoft sort this garbage language thing with Windows. It took me 15 minutes to figure out how to get rid of stupid language bar. And I know it'll back every time I'll run any Source based game. I just want Windows interface in English and keyboard in Slovenian. Is it too bloody much to ask for something this simple? No, I always have to go through long noodles of switching crap back and forth until shit finally aligns and sticks. At least partially. My god this is infuriating and MS hasn't done a damn thing to make it better since Windows 8 basically. Just baffling.

EDIT:

Oh wow, this is even better. NVIDIA installer thinks 446.14 is installed. Windows Device Manager says 432.00 is installed. I always wanted a split personality driver on my system...
