Heya Guys,

 

I saw the youtube vid recently and I had a bunch of PC spares in my cupboard so have built a F@H rig just to sit under my desk and run since I'm under quarantine here for the next 12 weeks due to being classified as a "vulnerable" person (undergoing treatments that put me at risk). So best of luck everyone, it is just an old i5 3570T and a GTX 1050, but I can leave it running 24 hours a day...

Aye, based up in Scotland working in IT support for a local council, and have been ordered to stay and work from home.

 

So as long as I can get some Toilet roll at some point I'll be stuck in the house of the next few months..

So been watching LTT for years but have joined today to join the fight and the team. My rig is an aging 2500k with a 1060 (6gb). I have an 8th gen i5 in my laptop and a 1050 in that as well, will add that to the pool shortly. 

 

I also have an old AMD 64 3500+ and I think a 7600 GT, presume that it is probably not worth adding that to the fray though?!

Couple of questions:

1.) Passkey. Have you requested one and entered it into your F@H client?

2.) If you have completed the first question, have you completed 10 WUs with the key?

Once both of those are completed, you will be eligible for the QRB (Quick Return Bonus) which gives you a massive bump in points. (In my case I went from less than 100k PPD to about 400k)

I also just joined. Watching LTT for about a year and a half now and loving it. I'm a 44 yr old IT-consultant and projectmanager from the Netherlands. I did fold some 10-15 years ago for the Dutch Power Cows but lost interest. Also searched for the aliens (SETI@Home) for a while, didn't find ET.

 

Joined today and hooked up my iMac Pro (8 core Xeon), my Unraid server (i7-8700, non-k) and my AMD Ryzen 3 3600X with an AMD RX 580. Only on the latter machine is my GPU also crunching numbers for this.

 

You can find me in the stats under the same nickname as here, ZaphodB. However, only one machine is currently crunching.. Unraid and the PC are waiting for a WU...

You could run Rosetta@Home in the meantime, they have COVID-19 WUs as well and they are a CPU only project. It plays well with FAH from my experience with it.

Any resources help, but very specially any GPU over CPU cores.
At least on my system, current point estimate per day for my 4 assigned CPU cores is only ~40K points, while current estimate for my 1080 Ti is ~1.6 M points, so 40X what those CPU cores can do.

Joined up this morning, got my main PC running it (R7 1700, RX580) but also this little guy:

Lattepanda Alpha single board computer

It's not the speediest of computers, averaging about 8hours per unit, but i can happily leave it on 24/7 with no worries about heat/noise or electricity usage :)

I get that, but probably easier for them to focus on WU's if we are not flooding their gear and they can ship send/receive off to someone else.
