LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response to Covid-19

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

Hi, this is my first post ever here in LTT, and this is just to say Present! Last week I built my first PC and today it's up and folding, everything thanks to LTT for teaching me tons of stuff related to computers, components and tech.

My GPU slot is resetting periodically. As such I am unable to get past 3%. The folding stops randomly and begins from 0%. Can someone help me out?

Check the logs.

If your GPU is overlocked, it can sometimes throw out errors working on the project. Too many, and it cancells the project.
You can check the log if it even asks you "Is your system overclocked?", if it produces bad work units.

I did not find any warnings for overclock in the logs. I have this though:

14:58:00:WU01:FS01:0x22:Temperature control disabled. Requirements: single Nvidia GPU, tmax must be < 110 and twait >= 900

I think it is normal to have this.

That is start of log and that is okay, leave it for 15-20 min and then put your log in spoiler so we can see what is going on.

Hey my Folding@home is glitching out. It keeps reloading the page and will not fold. Does anybody have a solution? Thx!

It was happening to me because I was using Chrome.  I pasted the page into Microsoft Edge and it was fine.

Yeah, I could have replied to him with a dose of critical negativity, but with this being a good cause, why not just keep everything positive.  Cheers.

I’m not sure on the specific folding performance of your hardware, but you may want to check that you’re leaving enough cpu cores to feed your gpu... Generally the rule is to leave one cpu core free for the gpu and one for the OS.

You can modify the number of CPU cores you’re using in the ‘configure’ settings menu.

I typically only fold on 50% off my cpu cores, as it’s not as efficient as the gpu anyhow.
