Red Dead Redemption 2 PC benchmarks- move over Crysis ; UPDATED

Humbug

Mostly I want to see if the input lag is better on PC. I liked RDR2, but never got around to finishing it on PS4 partially because of how unresponsive the controls were.

I benchmarked my OC'd RX580 and at 1080p with the default "balanced" setting which included ultra textures i get about 55-60 fps average so it's pretty ok. I tried turning EVERYTHING to ultra and got something like 19 fps average

Edit: On vulkan ofc because AMD card

I wonder if anyone will do a full breakdown like Gamers Nexus did for GTAv regarding which settings impact the game the most.

https://www.gamersnexus.net/game-bench/1909-gta-v-graphics-optimization-guide

hardware unboxed is attempting one but apparently the game dynamically changes the settings depending on gpu, plus scripting the settings don't work

Yea just dont run ultra. Default balanced is mostly high with some medium and some ultra. My 580 is oc'd to 1550 which is about the same boost as a factory rx 590. Make sure Anisotropic Filtering is 16x, it's free, and use vulkan.

Only problems and didn't get it to launch yet

Well that blows, if you're having issues I'm sure you're not alone. Assuming it's not on your end it will probably be patched in the near future to address your issue.

It's the old get it out of the door and we'll patch it later mentality. It's not right but a developer can't possibly account for every hardware configuration out there.

I agree. Doesn't look that great. All rockstar games have bad vegetation.

Rockstar: "We unlocked the framerate"

Also Rockstar: "Good luck getting to 60FPS"

Well, I don't play any games on Ultra settings anyways so I expect up to 100FPS at reasonable settings with 1080ti on QHD.

Looking at the internet I'm far from alone, that really really sucks. Friend of mine can't play it either. I hope they get their shit together real fast

Can anyone tell me which of those cards is closest in performance to the plain old 1070? I guess the 1060 Ti?

The 1070 is there in the graphs. It just performs about 1 fps faster than the RX 580

Isnt 30 fps enough in a game like this anyway? It is a more cinematic single player game, not a fast paced ,multiplayer shooter.

Does an OG PS4 render it on native 1080P then? Because many of these cards like a GTX 1060 are more powerful than what is in a PS4 and struggle at 1080P...

Switch it to Vulkan and you will see a good uptick in FPS since it supports both DX12 and Vulkan. Slides provided, only show Direct X. Here are some screenshots from the Gamers Nexus video: In the 1080p slide, there are some DX12 entries notated with [DX12] prior to the card name.

TLDR: DX12 is bad for this game, you should be playing it on Vulkan.
