No that's not a stout enough cooler to keep the 9900K where you want it.  It's a warm chip.

120mm AIO's are for looks only.  They cool for dogshit compared to any decent air cooler, let alone a good 360mm AIO.

If you want air, get a Peerless Assassin with 2x 120 fans on it.    Or a better AIO.

Though you idle is high, what is your ambient room temperature?

These things always suck but it seems like its working well enough for you for a presumably stock situation. Without knowing how the CPU is performing in benchmarks we can't really tell. Gaming is not a full load.

Its good enough if you're okay with those temps,  cuz most likely the CPU isn';t throttling.  So it means it isn't too hot to use.

For MY taste, no it's not enough though.  I prefer to overcool.

You are not hitting dangerously high temperatures so in terms of actualy performance gains you won't see a difference with a better cooler since you are not throtteling.

A better cooler should be more quiet and keep the temperatures lower however.

I had a 9900k and yes, they run hot 🙂

Weren't you adviced earlier today to not do this?

Anyway 120mm aio's are pointless coolers as almost anything is better.

You arent at 105c thermal max which is surprising as the ml 120 is about as bad as it gets. Unless you are just playing light games.

It depends. NONE ARE MADE EQUALLY!!!!!!!

A good 360mm like an arctic liquid freezer II or III wil EASILY cool the cpu. A ml 360 like what you have will do it shittily.

Or a cheap 35$ air cooler like a thermalright peerless assasin will also MORE than do the job.

Dont. Its super expensive, an old design  and not even that good.

An arctic liquid freezer is a lot better. Hell that 35$ thermalright cooler is only a couple degrees worse. That cooler is stupid overpriced.

There are many possibilities but the problem is that we don't know what is available to you, and what you can afford. If you are fixated on an AIO, list 280 and 360mm AIOs that you can afford to buy and will fit your case. If you are willing to look at air coolers, at least give us your budget and size constraints.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

I'd get the Noctua then, moves the warm air futher back and allows cooler air coming into the case.

Please list all of your computer parts so everyone can help you better and see which air coolers will fit. There are lots of options either way.
