EA Wants to Get Rid of Fair Matchmaking to Focus on Player Spending & Engagement with Psycological Manipulation

Electronic Arts, the greedy corporation behind Casino Wars Battlefront 2 (/joke) ,  is trying to get rid of fair matchmaking and focus on player spending and engagement.

 

They've designed a manipulative algorithm which aims to manipulate the consumer into spending money they would not have otherwise have spent.

 

And of course if you thought Electronic Arts only had that in mind, then you'd be mistaken.

 

They have patents on Dynamic Difficulty adjustment for maximizing player spending,

 

And these patents are  nothing new. The Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment one is dated March 2016. If you wanted to know how much improvement this brings to EA, then you'd be in luck.

Screwing with difficulty adjustment causes a 9% improvement to player engagement and has no effect on monetization.

 

And things get a lot worse. EA also has a patent on "Engagement Optimized Matchmaking framework".

 

"matchmaking based on fairness is not optimal for engagement"

 

This contains ideas that if a player looks like they will stop playing, the game will change parameters to ensure that the chances of them quitting are lower.

Just about every EA multiplayer game I've played in the past 5 years were heavily one sided.

In my experience, BF4 multiplayer is not often significantly one sided.

 

And of course now they'll try to set you up to lose matches and then convince you to buy Micro transactions at the game over screen.

I picked up battlefront one out of interest and it definitely seems sort of one sided at times. Especially when it shows what weapon the enemy killed you with and it shows their cool cosmetics

This is actually old news based on a patent EA applied for but have so far not yet used. Saw this way back in October/November.

@AluminiumTech, Tbh I don't exactly care about this, My big thing is this patch really only punishes their Fair play Community base and removes them from the equation. I have played some past COD games going back to Advance warfare (when drops where added) and more recent ones and they have this already in it just not as blatant as what Activision or Ea has Patened (10/10 English). This is really only gonna effect the ones the thing the need a Micro-Transaction weapon to actually be good types of players. Not the ones that will aim for the headshots, and use actual tactics to get an upper hand on players with what people want to call "Better Gear". In general an experienced fighter has a better chance killing a scrub with a Op weapon using on their pistol or Melee. 

 

Just Let EA fool the blinded. You guys can see so don't see why it bothers ya
