I was thinking of getting a cat. Only concern is apparently they leave hair all over the place and it is extremely difficult to clean. Is this true

Not necessarily 

I have a domestic short hair cat and she doesn't leave that much

But it depends there is a time in the year where they really like to fuck with you and leaves bunch of hair over all I didn't find it a whole that big of a problem but if you get one with tall hair I think it will be

My cat leaves hair all over the place, anything she touches is instantly covered in hair but my vacuum has a rotating brush which is really good at removing the hair.

 

If I brushed her more then it would probably be less of an issue but she doesn't want to get brushed, she just wants to scratch her face on the brush instead....

Depends. Brush them once a week and you shouldn't have many issues. Most cats like a good brushing too. But one thing to keep in mind, sometimes cats (and other animals) will shed a lot when they are stressed. My late calico/tortoiseshell mix used to live with my mom. Big home, lots of places to make her own. But my mom and her, at the time, boyfriend always fought (my sister and I also would fight them). As a result, the environment was tense and our cat was stressed. You could make a whole new cat with just one day of shedding (not an exaggeration either). But a few years later they split up, and moved out. My mom moved to a rental home that didn't allow animals. So I took our cat in. I live with my dad in a tiny little mobile home, that is rather cluttered. But, once our kitty got accustomed to her new tiny home, she was actually very calm and almost never hid. She made my, new at the time, Logitech G105 her new favourite spot. She would lay next to my computer on the daily, between 2-3 years. It wasn't until four or five years later when I finally upgraded my PC. When I opened it, there was a healthy amount of dust, but only trace amounts of her fur. Though when she entered her later year in life, she would rip out some tufts of fur. Despite this, the PC remained rather fur free. But she was relaxed and calm here, thus she hardly shed at all. Just wanted to throw that out there.

I have 2 more but they are hiding at the moment. All are rescues. Isis and Osiris are from the same litter. About 10 years old now. Cosmo and Pooh, who is not pictured, were adopted by myself and my wife 9 years ago.  Then Mew was a stray we adopted after he was attacked by a raccoon.  He's around 7 years of age.  And the last is Bobby, a 2 year old orange tabby that loves the kids. Not pictured at the moment.

So in order to keep this topic alive, I'm going to post a cat pic everyday

 

You already have met Léopold, Aka Léo, he's like the boss. He's 4 years old and was given by a friend because her cat got 7 kittens.

 

Now meet Moui (the sound he does when he meows) aka the tripod because he had his left front leg removed.

He lost it after falling under rock and had to have it removed to avoid necrosis.

He's a rescued cat, he was beaten by his previous owner so he's very shy but will trust you after a while.

Some may already know her. But this is dips. 

My cat. She's 2 years old. And she's a tabby. What's special about her? She barks at birbs .

When a cat decides to give birth under your roof in an unaccessible area of course...

 

This lil guy was the last one of the three kittens that were born inside the roof. It took 2 months to get them out (until the mother stopped coming to feed them) and this little one really wanted to stay.

 

They are now all reunited in their new foster home.
