I personally am not a fan of the MATTE PURPLE (literally nowhere else on LTT stuff) mixed with the GRADIENT ORANGE

These are some changes I propose:

Black (but slightly lighter because just.. no) in purples place

White (but slightly darker because reasons)

Matte orange on last T

One is original, one is with modded colour, last is modded colour with changed overlapping letters

The logo has always been Orange and White. New logo does not go with the established brand theme

I also think it makes more logical sense to the eye if you move the first t's bottom back a layer.

It really is the purple on top of the orange-magenta background that is really clashing.

Both of those look way way better. Even just taking the purple out improves it a lot, though I'm still not a fan of the orange-magenta gradient background.

The Black background doesn't seem to have enough ltt Orange in it though. What about swapping it so the background is matte orange with the lettering white/grey/black? @EPENEX

Does it need a new intro, I mean maybe? If they really want to stick with the orange/purple/white colors (which I personally think the purple is way out of place) then yeah, at least some recoloring on the intro, maybe a new one with a more "flowing" style to fit the art.

Oo oo @LinusTech let me make one! It would be the perfect balance of dead memes and suicide jokes with a nice generic retrowave tone

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

All of you editing the square logo are missing the subtle gradients that make it work.
look to gradients in some recent third party implementations to googles material design standard.

I agree that a gradient in certain areas of my recolouring could improve it, but I am just an amateur hobbyist when it comes to graphic design and don't really know how to give a piece that finishing touch. I do feel like the current design that they have going could be improved with some recolouring and slight shading which is what I was trying to demonstrate.

Yeah, there's just something off about it. Thanks for trying though!
I think the colours seemed to be really faded though, heading more towards yellow than the classic LTT orange. I eyedropped the same orange from the previous LTT logo and filled it in with that and it looks a little bit richer, but it still doesn't look right to me.
(Note: I am FAR from being on a colour accurate monitor, so it might just be my monitor messing up the colours for me)

It's a bit late for April Fools, so I'll assume they're serious.

Who came up with the idea of letting a blind (or at least colour blind) person design the logos and graphics?

they look pretty boring ._.

... actually I feel like the gradient hides a lot of the oversimplicity. not sure how I feel about that though (because in terms of paintings and 3D models a well shaded art will cover up a lot of misgivings, and I tend to want to do it good BEFORE shading because otherwise I'll miss the silhouette/general shape for the tones)

Yeah, I have no idea how to do gradient in photoshop properly. Or use photoshop at all. Took me 5 min to figure out you need to add a layer and then apply gradient to that, then another 5 minutes and a trip to google to learn you need to Ctrl + Shift + C to copy all layers instead of just the top layer :D
Tried, but best I could come up with was either looking really red, or looking really dull and faded.
Oh well. Best leave it to the professionals.

I must wonder who came up with that obnoxious new logo. Wanky colors with geometry to make eyes bad. I did wonder if something can be worse than early 2000s web design, and that was Apple-style design with white all around. But I think even Apple is pale of jealousy seeing this.

While I hope this isn't your graphics designers idea, I fear it is. I expected more.

At first I did found it very strange at first but it already grown into me, I've noticed that whoever designed it has been following the design trends for 2018, especially with the purple which kinda look like Pantone's colour of the year (Ultraviolet).

For a Youtube or Facebook avatar logo, I think it suits really well as you can easily see LTT in the logo (it does looks like a bunch of lines at first when you blow it up). The banner however, I dislike the hexagon overlay, I've seen that used on many tech+gaming channels so I think it gets overused badly. I also think the tracking of the text could be more close together, they look too spaced out and makes it look weird and out of place. i would suggest if the text could be the former colours with the white text but the orange text would be sweet but that would contradict the new colour choices...so maybe instead, the Tech could be more bolder or the ultraviolet purple or 'why not both'?

Other than that, I don't dislike it entirely but I feel it does needs some improvements, I do understand the reason of a rebranding because the former look has been around for years and sometimes you just gotta try and stay relevant. A percentage of people aren't going to like it anyway because they just don't like change but give it time and they'll forget about it.

I find rebrands or even a graphics style change is quite difficult as it's not something that you can just change it around just cos you feel like it and you have to keep in mind that it's going to be there for years to come.

I've personally took charge of doing a big style change for a LAN party in Australia called RFLAN, a lot of the long-time volunteers wanted a fresh look for our 60th event. So half-way through creating the assets, I've managed to implement a new graphics style halfway which saw a positive response in terms of accessibility and look and by our next event, we've fully moved to the new style design.

Anyway, it surely looks like a new chapter for LTT!

I posted into wrong topic, so going to quote myself here to start:

I think I could take the colors. But overlapping just doesn't work. Not when you have max 80x80 or 160x160 area, on mobile even smaller. I think that 80x80 should be one to look when designing logos for places like Twitter, FB or Youtube. Works on pretty much any screen size, you can't make it too messy or ugly and so on. More the lines, messier it becomes. Just look at Blizzard App logo/icon. Messy s**t. Trimble's "rose" is even messier as its supposed to be globe inside triangle. Just have all lines on same plane, or have L bigger and 2x T's bit smaller or something more clear.

Banner is much better. I can even accepts using dotted areas to give more contrast.
