I haven't even watched the video yet, but would like to say THANK YOU for not giving me the chance to ask what an ass-gamer is, referencing http://xkcd.com/37/ due to incorrect or missing hyphen placement. :)

Well i was a cheap-ass gamer back in school but i rarely felt that i needed more GPU power.

Laptop was old, had like an old HD5450 or something but if you adjust what you play to the system, you can still have a lot of fun.

Like, i played Juiced a LOT. And during class openTTD but sssh, don't tell that to anyone.

My friends were nice enough to adjust whatever we played to what our laptops could run. It rarely matters what you play, what does matter if you play it with your friends or not. Even the most idiotic games can be a lot of fun with the right people :P

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

You're not wrong, but some people need a computer that they can also take on the road.

And today, if you're buying new, a desktop isn't even going to be much cheaper than $850 for comparable hardware. If you were to run an i5-8400 and desktop GTX 1050 Ti you'd be looking at close to $400 for those parts alone. By the time you build the rest of your tower, get a monitor & peripherals, you're not far from $850.

If you're a college student that needs a laptop and you prefer to go the "buy the cheapest laptop I can find & get a decent gaming desktop" route you'd be VERY lucky to get out under $850.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883288107&ignorebbr=1 $415 (equal preformance with 2% to the laptop featured)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137091&ignorebbr=1 $175

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834298533&ignorebbr=1 $185

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0JC-0019-02356&ignorebbr=1 $82 (on sale)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126097 $15 (assuming the computer doesn't come with them)

Total: 872+taxes/shipping...

Instead of doing things new, perhaps used? At least 50% of the students I knew/saw used older/used laptops because of finances... Those with new took out loans (or paid by family) and imo stupidly spent money useful elsewhere...

My biggest gripe like with most laptops is the battery. If this had a XPS15 battery (97WHr) vs the G3 (56 WHr)

If someone made a dual channel 2700U laptop with that big of a battery and really only one single NVMe user replacable storage. I would be sold in a minute!

To be honest, 850$ is not what I consider cheap... you're too spoiled @LinusTech linus_happy48x48.jpg.7f12136abb4b62615c6a89aa7c1baccd.jpg

I buy my laptops used and if I wanted to play games on them I'd just look for one with a passable iGPU in it :P

I do when I forget to leave it plugged in at night :c on my own laptop though...

No kidding.

I still got an old Toshiba laptop with an i3 in it with no dGPU.  It ain't the most powerful thing out there.  But, it works well enough for on the go travel and some gaming.

There a reason they put graphic sliders in games. :P  Though, I did go wack and played L4D2 multiplayer on it with a sat connection.  Woooo, trying to shoot zombies with a 600ms ping is challenging.

I sensibly research my parts, buy within budget and stick to the systems 'Theme' so i guess i'm a budget builder  As for paying for a game and seeing it through to the end?  That's probably where i fall down

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

I am a cheap ass gamer, my laptop that was around 200-300 dollars is a Lenovo IdeaPad 320-ABR with a AMD A12-9720P processor, Radeon R7 integrated graphics, and 8GB (1866 MHz) of DDR4 memory and a battery that lasts an 1 hour. 2 hours if I'm lucky lol.

The G3 is not a cheap ass gaming laptop. Close to $800 I wouldn't call that a cheap ass gaming laptop.

This one is one of the budget and cheap gaming laptop.

That's $700 with shipping and the G3 is 130% faster, it'd be really worth it to save up that extra 12.5% of the budget.

No way am I cheap, I sprung for the GDDR5 version of the 1030 rather than cheap out on the ddr4 version.

Of course, the G3 is faster but it costs close to $800. As I said earlier, anything that is close to $800 is not cheap. It's like you are saying $800 smartphone is cheap.

i was really excited when i saw the title. In no way could i imagine it was nothing more than a review for a new laptop. Could have been epic video, was just another review of a laptop. A cheap ass could even get a better performance for the dollar new laptop, not to mention used or a desktop.

Classified as click bait
