Definitely not old compared to other stuff here but nonetheless, it's old by today's standards. Sorry for the overexposed pics, wanted to show the insides of the PC. Friend's coworker's old PC. Gave it to him when he upgraded to a Macbook.

FINALLY managed to get most of the issues sorted out after 3 whole days of tinkering (still have an odd IRQ conflict with the sound card on reboot though) only to find out that the Radeon 9600 Pro in this likes to artifact in 3D (looks like USPS handled the box it was in pretty rough, thank god the board was fine)... And naturally the entire mid to high-end 9000 series seems to have absolutely BALLOONED in price since I looked last. Either way, specs are as follows:

Supermicro P3TDDE

Dual 1266MHz Tualatin P3's

512MB PC100 ECC RAM (second stick died unfortunately, so I'm keeping my eyes peeled for 1 or 2GB ECC kits)

Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB

Riptide PC80079

30GB DiamondMax Plus 8 (onboard IDE controller, used for OS and a few programs)

40GB DiamondMax Plus 8 (onboard FastTrak100 since normal IDE is limited to 32GB for some reason, used for games)

My dad threw away all of my old computers and consoles. I had a 1990s Toshiba Tecra with a Pentium 3, an old Dell Dimension 3100C with a Pentium 4, and a bunch of old Maxtor drives aswell as a few old other computers that I can't remember.

big lot on ebay, guy had a few for each type of 775 processor at decent prices

i wanted to get all the pentium D's but they only came in a lot of 600 and he wanted 200$ for them, so nah

somehow they later sold anyway

tbf 200 bucks for 600 of any CPU really is a good deal, so I can't say I'm surprised they sold.

OK, so just upgraded my Uncle...Specs:

i5-3570

MSi H61MUE35 (B3)

8Gb DDR3 1600 Corsair Vengeance RAM

and a Corsair CX450 PSU

But we're not interested in that new fangled in THIS thread.  So here's some gratuitous shots of what i pulled out before installing the stuff above:

The ASRock ConRoe945G-DVi (with sound dead)

An original Copper cored Intel heatsink (still working)

and did someone mention Glued Together??

An Intel Pentium D 820 (still working)

Forgot to post it here, but got the ol' girl shoved into a case. Granted it's the case my shitbox was in so that got real interesting, but nonetheless I finally have this board in a safe spot. Was actually really on the fence about the CPU cooling aspect since the fan is literally held in by plastic things meant to hold fan grilles on, but bending the heatsink means I can ball like this until I can find a pair of nice coolers. Temps stay in the low-50s even under Prime95 (up from idle in the low-40s). Not bad for a 92mm fan covering about half the heatsink which controls its own speed based off airflow temperature.

Those SEXY vrm heatsinks...

Those are the CPU heatsinks lmao

Took the stock fans off because in typical 370/478 Intel stock fashion they make a horrible grinding sound (even though it's normal for them)

The fan is one of those old Sensflow deals from old Dell desktops with a temp probe so it controls itself just friction-fit into the heatsinks where I bent a few fins and put them in with plastic retention dealios meant for holding grilles on fans.

Love the dual PIII setup! Did they have thermal throttling or did they just die upon overheating? Just curious.

They haven't done either lmao

Even slamming them with smallFFT's for a full day they didn't even touch 55C and the fan didn't spool up at all since intake temp was still below where it would (yknow cause on-fan thermistor so it controls itself).

EDIT: reread what you said a few times and if you're asking if P3's thermal throttled I don't know. I've never been retarded enough to find out.

So when they died, was it because you didn't have enough fans?

Ooooooo!!!!!! This makes me want to get my P3 rig out and finish it!

Not sure what gpu to use though...

I would say genuinely say a 9600 Pro would be a good match for a single chip (if it's at least a 733). Excluding the GTA trilogy which just don't run well at all and get weird glitchy artifacts, my duallies sit around doing nothing with my config (even in Halo CE).
