Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

I bought a Mazda Cx-30 2020 at the end of June 2020, after I sold my 2011 Mazda 3. So what can I say: Pros of the car: Bright, expressive exterior and interior design. Excellent handling. Good soundproofing of the cabin. Cons of the car: Problems with the build quality of the cabin The cabin is cramped inside, in comparison with competitors. Fuel consumption in the city is relatively high for a so-called hybrid engine. "Jerking" of the gear box when the 1st and 2nd gears are turned on.  My little experience of owning the CX-30 suggests that the price for it is clearly overpriced; if I were an importer, I would think about the pricing policy. For the same money, you can buy a CX-5 in a simpler configuration.

We got one in on trade with 9k miles. Its way too small of a car. You'd have to move your seat way up to fit a rear facing child seat. Anyone over 10 years old isn't gonna have enough room in the back. Crazy because my Civic hatchback could fit adults in the back no problem.

I seriously shopped the CX-5 because the carbon trim looked awesome, but I do not like Mazdas powertrains at all. Their power delivery, middle of the road 6 speed, and meh gas mileage turned me away. If I want diesel power delivery I'll get a diesel.

So a friend of mine has a 2020 Mazda3 6spd non turbo 2.5, he got a 90 octane flash tune on it and said it was transformational. Not only is it substantially up on power and torque carries through to nearly fuel cut but MPG is up a good amount as well compared to before the tune. If only he could get rid of the clutch delay valve he'd be 100% happy!

Drinks and snacks and bathroom breaks

Also jfc, well from what I remember driving up there from El Paso, there's a gas station right off i25 on Tramway (exit going northbound) that's cheap enough / you won't get shanked like the rest of that garbage city.

edit: road name

Albuquerque is a garbage city? I didn't know, just seemed like a good bigger city to stop lol. Felt like Amarillo, TX was a bit too short. But there's not much after that. Our second stop was going to be Salt Lake City

Bring baby wipes.

Have extra stuff with like to change a tire more easily than the shitty tire kit with the car. I always have...

breaker bar, flip socket set, torque wrench, portable inflator. I can help anyone change any tire and I have the tools to change my own tire. A tire plug kit may be a good idea so you're not stuck on a donut for a long time. Have extra coolant, oil, brake fluid. Power bank for your phone, comfy hiking shoes, pillow and blanket, bright flashlight with spare battery.

Imo, yeah, lol. Been there more than enough times. It's fine if you stay in the safer areas on the north / northeast sides instead of like... Central. Central is where you find all the fun folks.

northeast would be good anyway.. less driving time through the actual city, being we'd be pretty much ready to get out of the car at that point lol

Yeah looking at google maps, if you take i40 in you can take the exit for tramway and go right around the city which is waaaaaaaay better than dealing with the city. The gas station I was thinking about is at the end right before i25, across from the casino. I think hotels n such are a little bit south on i25 from there but shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

I don't like the idea that you have to tune a newer car to be livable, especially something under warranty.

I was thinking of doing a road trip this summer but I gotta burn my vacation on a remodel. Fun. Plus theres way more people driving like absolute mad men on the roads post covid. I used to have to hang in the left lane all the way to work passing everyone going 55 in a 50. Now I have to sit in the right lane all day because people are blowing my doors off going 65-75.

Better fix that dowel pin of death before you do anything else, pretty sure that's still a problem on those.

He was reasonably happy before but after he put on a cat-back the accelerated warmup at each cold start absolutely rattled his house and so the first reason for the tune was to disable that so he could keep the exhaust on the car. After the tune he's over the moon with it though.

Pretty high chance, but I guess it depends on what gen because you can cram the 4G64 or 4G63 with turbo into the older ones and that could make for some fun. If it's one of the new ones that looks like a Skittle and a Dodge Neon fucked then I'm pretty sure you're alone in this desire.
