Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Picked up a 1993 Jeep Wrangler with factory hard top and full-doors, needed work but got it for an absolute steal. Radio is dead (verified voltages, the head unit is just dead), fuel gauge didn't work (was just a dirty connection on the dash cluster. Previous owner replaced it and the sending unit without cleaning the plug. Poor sod.

Im a jeep guy now. This thing is GREAT to drive, as close as I can get to my old Landrover Disco 1 without spending a fortune in fuel. Might even drive a little better.

It was fairly stock, a blessing. All of the mods that were done are great. Stainless steel header and full exhuast that sounds fantastic.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

What motor? I assume 4.0? Manual or auto? I wanna get an xj, hoping for a 90s with manual and 4.0 4 door. If I could find the holy grail I’d get a 96, manual, 4 door, and 4.0, but I probably have more luck getting struck by lifting for that year/spec. Color doesn’t matter, I like em all. Prefer red, green, or white though.

My First (Current) Build:

Ryzen 7 2700 (3.90 1.35v OC) | Asus Prime X470 Pro | G.Skill Ripjaws V 16gb 3200 | Inland Professional 512gb M.2 NVME | Samsung 860 Evo Sata M.2 1TB | Corsair H115i Platinum | Corsair ML 140 RGB Fans | Fractal Design Meshify C | EVGA RTX 2070 XC Ultra

Laptop:

HP Spectre X360 13t Gem Cut (i7 8565u, 240gb, 8gb mem)

My Ride:

2015 VW Golf TDI Sportwagen

Eventually an XJ manual...

Nope, 2.5l 4Cyl, 5 Speed AX-5. XJ's are sweet, but I've always liked the way a wrangler looks.

Yeah the wranglers have a good look. That year is leaf spring front end? I was leaning hard on the xj for the coil spring front end. The 2.5 is a good little engine! I am a fan of the 4.0 for being an inline 6, the sound and the bulletproof, nuke withstanding reliability lol

Yep, all wranglers were leaf sprung front and rear until the TJ came out in the late 90's

Brought my R33 Skyline home from storage yesterday to start work on getting it back on the road, it's been off the road since 2010 in a storage unit.

d4a747e5587b6dc73fc5ceafc692fb18.jpg

Before I parked it up it had a stuttering issue when hitting full boost. Both the coilpacks and fuel pump were second hand out of a friends car when they died just to get it back on the road and moving again.

So yesterday I pulled this thing out of the tank, which is looking fairly well used

792f01a0f95b7f48852e9310edc04d9c.png

Replaced it with a Walbro 255LPH Intank pump and its feeling considerably better!

I have a set of brand new Splitfire coilpacks, which ill probably do on my next day off later in the week.

Also started some repairs on the GT-R spoiler yesterday. The epoxy has had a day to cure, so need to do some sanding and get some fiberglass & resin down to add some strength in where some cracks are in the mounting pins. Will probably do that this week as well so I can get it fitted on the car.

This is the spoiler tip that was broken off which has been epoxied back on. Its pretty strong now that its cured, when I pull on it the whole wing flexes.

It's not a load bearing part so it doesnt need to be completely rigid, but im going to use a fiberglass repair kit to fill in underneath and especially to have the resin hold in the mounting pin. Then it just needs a good sand and prime/paint to clean it up.

what do you guys think of towing a small uhaul enclosed trailer with a 2003 Saab 9-3 Linear with the 2,0T?

They say it can support a hitch rating of 2,000 pounds and online it seems that it can safely pull up to 2,000lbs

Have ridden in 9-3 and Malibu Maxx (product of GM buying SAAB after their bankrupsy. SAAB frame with new sheet metal), you should be fine. They are very solid vehicles. Just make sure your breaks and suspension are in good shape before you head out.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

yep, good ol GM Epsilon platform lol

and yeah I kinda figured such.

Make sure nothing is too badly rusted, because I do live up north. However the car did live mostly in a garage it seems so chances are the underbody should be pretty good.

It's got 96.6k miles got it with 96,077 miles in early October. One owner for $2,700 (like $2862 after tax and registration re-assignment costs)

I don't really know if I should go for the 4x8 trailer or the 5x8 trailer lol I don't have a whole lot of furniture but uh I wanna try and contain my stuff to the trunk

I have really big trunk lol

I'd go 5x8, the difference in weight won't hurt the vehicle any, and worst case scenario you have another foot to fit crap in.

sounds like a plan lol
yeah it's like $90 more but frankly versus renting a truck and an auto transport trailer because Im not dragging my back wheels for 1000 miles and risking scrapping the back end on stuff because it's a lower car it's way cheaper even with gas and the cost of getting the hitch installed, I don't think I'd wanna keep the hitch stuff after the move so I'd probably see what second hand values are like and try and recover some costs that way.

This video invokes some confidence because this Yaris can do it lol

Old cars are fun, yesterday I drove this 108 year old model T in -10C. It's amazing how good the engine runs.

This car has alot of history and has almost always been in use since new 1911. This car has been driven at least 50000km over it's lifetime and is still going strong.

Gave the old one a blanket to keep warm after the drive, before putting it back in the garage.

as long as the brakes and tires are fine, you will be able to tow that with no issues.

Europe has quite a lot of people towing smaller trailers with small city cars

So today I fit a pair of Autobahn88 hood dampers to my R33 Skyline, and what a difference they make! The hood is so much lighter to lift, and it can stay up without the brace being up which is really nice.

A couple of days ago i epoxied the crack in my R33 GT-R spoiler, today i backed it with resin & fiberglass. Just waiting for it to fully cure and will trim & sand it back tomorrow and do some filler on the top & sides.

Also today I fit my new Splitfire coil packs. Absolute pain in the ass from the intercooler piping, BOV return, vacuum hoses and strut brace running over the top of it! But when I took the coilpacks out there was a lot of black on the rail where one of the coilpacks mounted which would indicate arcing, so I believe I found the source of my boost issue!

I need a parts car for my 2016 Mustang

Only need the rear end, both qrter panels crushed along with inner tub and skin. Would be cheaper to purchase whole car instead of individual parts from ford or local suppliers, junkyards do not have anything in stock right now for what I need.

Would like for it to be near the east coast, closer the TN the better for me.

Also am I able to post some of the rebuilds I've done on this thread?

I dunno man, the crumple zones of the rear uni-body frame 'rails' are surely damaged on the passenger side and won't properly deform if the car is rear ended, that could be a liability if someone gets hurt in the car. A body shop in Texas that replaced a hail damaged roof on a Honda that was then later re-sold was found liable in the injuries and death caused by the roof coming off during a roll over accident later on. They had used panel adhesive instead of the Honda specified spot welds to attach the replacement roof panel. A jury found that the improper repair contributed to a mans death and other passenger injuries when they were ejected from the vehicle.

Inner tub was crushed from accident and would have to section in one. Looks more intimidating than it is. Both qrter panels damaged during accident, drivers side buckled. Not that hard to replace, have access to a frame rack, & spot welder w/mig welder. Really was just wanting to find if someone had a parts car or not. Not wanting to spend the money on ford parts although I get a small discount from our shop with them.

Got other builds I could post on here that were destined for the junkyard lol, that and it's also my job, but I understand your concern with it all.

As long as you do it by the book according to Ford you should be liability free.

Did you see that Z06 C7 Vette a little while back that was totalled out from hitting construction debris? Had a 2 inch crack between the aluminum and fiberglass, GM had no repair procedure so insurance had to total it and send it to auction as they could not guarantee it would perform in a crash.
