Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

I want one now!

Me too. The only thing is they're still pricey for their age. a nice semi low mileage (~150k miles) 2002 v6 4runner limited runs around 8 grand, more than double the price of a used 98 lexus LS400. but i mean you pay for toyota reliability and ability offroad. plus they just look good compared to other SUVs of age. Really considering one as a future tow rig, but with an E39 M5 weighing just over 2 tons and a single car trailer weighing probably at least 500lbs, it's dangerously close to the max it can tow.

this is probably the only place i'll hang out anymore: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/274320-the-long-awaited-car-thread/

Current Rig: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Abit IN9-32MAX nForce 680i board, Galaxy GT610 1GB DDR3 gpu, Cooler Master Mystique 632S Full ATX case, 1 2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA and 1x200gb Maxtor SATA drives, 1 LG SATA DVD drive, Windows 10. All currently runs like shit :D

Yeah same here, THey stupidly priced, like I can get a 1997 V6 one with 147k km on the close OR for similar money I can get a 2012 VW Amarok with same KM. Sucks.

Really? I would've thought values wouldn't be as high down under mainly because I thought demand for them isn't as high as they are over here. Literally a 300k mile (that's 500k km for you guys) 4x4 limited 4runner still fetches a cool 5 grand on the classifieds. I don't think I plan on getting one as a tow rig, maybe an offroad monster, but i think I'd be safer off with something like a tundra or a sequoia bc stronger engine and higher towing capacity. though that would be too many cars at that point lol :P

Most hobby cars prices won't go lower than around 5 grand in my area. I feel lucky though, there are generally really nice vehicles around me in that price range.

By hobby cars I assume you mean project cars? If so, usually I can find a few running projects for around 3-4k here, most of them of the t ype such as 240s, swapped mkIII supras, and 260/280zs. pretty decent ones too, especially since cars rarely rust unless neglected.

I'm gonna miss top gear uk. This is gonna be a one word post

Audi R8

2012-Audi-R8-V10-Exclusive-Selection-Edi

I also heard that Audi owns Lamborghini. I like James mays comment about Nissan's being an enthusiast car. Ehhh Pro ford.. I don't like holden. Also remember top gear saying something about the decline of American cars and the success of "japan/asian" cars, I'll always appreciate Ferrari and Lamborghini (which is both Italian right?) I think they talked about Japan cars being better than European and that being better than american, Plus mind you the good old American cars should be falling apart soon "and" European/Italian cars are only making top tier cars.

I'v played to much video games and kinda fell in love with McLaren though, I also value torque over speed :).

On like Electric cars, I saw a big fuel ship using fuel only to generate power which is used to power electric motors

That didn't quite happen, we just added that to the title so motorcycle people wouldn't feel "out of place"

Hide the style of the car, so whoever in the general public sees it doesn't get any ideas on what it looks like.

Huh... I guess that just throws me off a bit because in that picture you can totally see body lines. Like... That picture should provides a good bit of detail for the shape of the car and body lines, does it not?

Maybe the general shape, but usually they hide the finer details that make or break a car. And keep in mind they might look nothing like production models.

I've debated over 6011 rod or 6013/7014 rod, its AC so 6010 is out. 6013/7014 is very light penetration, but it was on sale, so I bought 6013, good for practice. I will snatch up some 6011 rod from Auckland, its cheaper then 6013 price of $10 for 5lbs.

Am I the only one who's surprised that the Sequoia is actually the largest vehicle that Toyota offers today? Like I'm surprised that it's the largest offering, I could have sworn the Land Cruiser was bigger than the Sequoia, but it's pretty much a few inches bigger in every dimension, hell it's heavier when fully loaded than a LC. Yet it tows less than a land cruiser despite the same motor and similar dimensions.

motor and dimensions is not everything ... suspension and wheels and tires are a factor as well ...

Mobo - Asus Maximus VI Formula Ram - Kingston HyperX Fury 1866mhz CL10 16GBCPU - Intel i7 4790K ;

i know it's not everything. but i thought the sequoia, being based on the tundra, would have things like the drivetrain, suspension, and even wheel/tire combos, so it should be more capable of towing than the land cruiser. the only thing going for the sequoia is that a fully loaded one is still a solid 30 grand cheaper than a land cruiser, which is almost 85 grand.
