Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

It's like the bigger brother. Though I don't think the aston looks bad by any means. and it has more aggression, the mx-5 is more "cute"

Do they make tear offs for lenses?

Not that I know of, and if you mess up the application you'll get massive distortion in the raw image quality (kind of like windshields for racecars)

mount a sacrificial piece of glass to the front of the lens or something?

Most people double or triple stack clear filters but it gets pricey real quick with large diameter lenses. Plus if one happens to shatter and hit the front elements... well, it won't be a cheap fix either way.

@warmmilk well being my suspension has been getting clunky and a squeak appeared last week... I need to do something soon lol

im not even gonna bother getting an alignment now lord knows all my bushings are trashed and it’ll never hold an alignment anywho.

so it needs a bit of an overhaul soon. Control arms(heck ill just buy some menvotech ones for the sake having clean new stuff under there lol), shocks, shock mounts, bumpstops, sway bar end links, maybe even tie rods. Just a complete refresh.

Only insanely costly bit out of all that is the shocks... I wish konis were half the price of what they are... so expensive

trying calling (or emailing) around some different parts retailers for the shocks... GWR and FM tend to sell a lot of their stuff at MSRP where as most others give a discount...  Start with THMotorsports and MAPerformance

poly bushings and some brake cleaner could be a better choice than replacement part brand control arms.  but personally I'll never buy poly bushings if its not made by SuperPro or Whiteline, but that can get pricey (especially SuperPro).  you can also buy stiffer oe style rubber made by IL Motorsports, but those aren't all that cheap either and even a bigger pain to install.

I don’t really want poly a. Because it’s illegal in a street class (meh i don’t care about this a ton lol) and b. They are known for being squeaky after a few months of install.

Id also probably have to get a press... maybe not... but it would be greatly helpful and I don’t really have a place to put it yet.

Maybe ill I’ll just look over the car and see what has play and just replace what is needed. I probably only need shocks/mounts and end links/bushings for the sway bars. Idk it’s just after you spend so much on a car you want it to be like it’s new xD all the old suspension parts are bothering me

the squeak is a bit odd... it seems to come to light when the front doesn’t have a ton of weight on it (accelerating) and over bumps. I still questions whether it’s coming from the front or the rear. But I do know there’s a clunk in the rear over bumps that’s been there for a while...

Wait, i thought the Miata used struts all around, even the rear?

Spring coil over shocks all around.

Technical term is “coilovers” but they are typical aftermarket thing you’re thinking of. They are a shock in the middle of a spring though, just not adjustable in any way like aftermarket stuff

rockauto still calls them struts but they aren’t. iirc a strut actually is allowed to have movement (usually at the top mount) to assist with steering, whereas shocks do not. But that confuses me on the rear. Either way, it’s not struts, it’s shocks, according to Mazda lol
