Well I'm assuming you know what bore and stroke is. If you don't then you should read up on those first. Basically it increases the length of the stroke (ladies ;) ) of the engine, there by increasing displacement (and sometimes compression ratio). More displacement out of the same engine = more power. However it also creates more rotating mass. Not a huge deal really. Some engines in the same family you'll see have the same bore and different strokes, so it basically means the bigger of the two is just the smaller with a stroker kit. Usually there's much more too it though (different style heads to accommodate the longer stroke is the most common).

Well... I mean you can daily anything. You don't have to be a semi-pro driver to justify buying a stroker kit. However, most people just get a built engine with custom... everything, as opposed to just buying a stroker kit. Alternatively, you can get the stroker kit and do a rebuild, that way you have fresh/aftermarket seals and gaskets and all that fun stuff, which will also increase the amount of power your engine can handle. And yes, forged internals can hold more power for boosted applications, as opposed to something like hypereutetic pistons.

I guess they're worth it, basically they make the cylinders travel more upwards and downwards (towards the head/towards the crank), and since it's a stroker kit, it gives you more stroke, so the "displacement" increases too. Higher the displacement, higher the output (pls dont start a "there's no replacement for displacement" fight, thank you)). But since I like high revving cars, the bigger stroke, the lower you should rev (piston weight and wtv), so, a no for me.

PS: I know about the problem that EVOs have with the transfer case and differantials, so, I mean, in which point exactly in terms of Horsepower and Torque, should I be worried with that?

400 is easy, just buy an FQ400 or a 440

Should I upgrade my alternator? I have the biggest battery my car can fit, without modifications. The lights frequently dim, I changed my front headlights to LED because of the voltage drop, and my rear lights dim horribly. Even my dash lights dim. 

I guess I should also upgrade the wires connecting to the ground and from alternator to battery. 

 

How do I know what to get? I have a 2001 MAZDA protégé 1.6l Lx

Upgrade may not be necessary, it could just be an old alternator...
