Xiaomi Unveils 'World's First' 6.4-inch Phone With Edgeless Display

Nothing says sci-fi like a bezel-less screen, and Xiaomi’s newly announced Mi Mix Android phablet is very sci-fi with its 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. This 6.4-inch device has just been announced as a concept phone by the Chinese company, but weirdly enough, it has a price, ¥3,499 ($516), and a release date of November 4th in its home country.

Looks beautiful, but too large for my tastes. It's basically a shrunken down version of a Dell tablet, really.

Cool though. Hopefully they manage to bring similar ideas to smaller devices.

Haha, yeah. I like the curved screen idea, if implemented properly. I'm all about shortcuts.

I almost immediately thought the Note 2 will be my next phone...then I noticed no card slot, and no Android 7.

I'll wait a bit and see what Huawei's Mate looks like. It should be a bigger screen in an unnoticeably larger body.

I thought so too, but at the same time companies have gotten quite good at edge panels; I'm sure this wouldn't be that different. Not sure how good Xiamoi's software team is though.

I'd love to see it in person. As much as I like Xiaomi (currently using a Redmi Note 4), Xiaomi has a knack for editing out bezels in their press photos. I also used a Sharp SH-01G before this, and the almost edgeless display does look super awesome in person.

I was actually thinking a phone with 100% screen body ratio, just complete display on front. That would make a larger display in smaller form factor, which is really nice.

I just watched some videos of it, and yeah, they've exaggerated the bezels again in the press photos. This is more in line with my Sharp SH-01G, albeit with curved glass. Still looks pretty nifty though, and should have less accidental touches.

It's not that bad size wise if you actually dig into it. Sure, it's 6.4", however it's about the same size as an iPhone.

It's a phablet. It's meant to be used more two handed anyway, as are most.

I don't think they exaggerated it that much. Looks the same as most pictures.

I wouldn't want a completely bezel less phone anyway, it'd be a pain.
