That would mean that it's not edge-less though. There's still a bezel.

Looks beautiful, but too large for my tastes. It's basically a shrunken down version of a Dell tablet, really.

Cool though. Hopefully they manage to bring similar ideas to smaller devices.

Haha, yeah. I like the curved screen idea, if implemented properly. I'm all about shortcuts.

I almost immediately thought the Note 2 will be my next phone...then I noticed no card slot, and no Android 7.

I'll wait a bit and see what Huawei's Mate looks like. It should be a bigger screen in an unnoticeably larger body.

Loads of people have asked for less bezel for years...

I thought so too, but at the same time companies have gotten quite good at edge panels; I'm sure this wouldn't be that different. Not sure how good Xiamoi's software team is though.

Eh, it makes sense for it's target market.

too bad the mate 9 pro is 1.3k USD, like wtf

Isn't that speculated pricing? The Mi Note 2 was initially speculated to be around $850, but that didn't come to pass. I don't think Huawei has the cajones to price the Mate 9 up that high, no matter how high-end it is.

No where is it stated that in order to be called an edge-less display, it has to be completely edge-less.

Haha, yeah. I'd be fine with the regular version depending on panel type and price.

I never trust rumors until the actual release, they're usually quite far off.

I want it.

Not because its useful, but because it looks sexy.

Everyone should be allowed to enjoy a good looking piece of tech.

I guess MKBHD is just that big, that Xiaomi would even send him a review unit! haha

Good thing too, since I was kind of tired of the meh camerawork/video quality and lack of English from some of the other press sites on the event floor. Glorious footage of a glorious piece of kit in glorious (youtube) 4K! xD

There's still a bottom edge though...

What reason could you possibly have to want to upgrade a 1 year old phone? I'm on 2013 my Galaxy Note 3 and it still works perfectly fine, I don't see the point in generating so much unnecessary e-waste.

Let's not forget the Sharp Aquos, which did this well before Xiaomi did. Neat idea, but not for me. Little bit of bezel is nice imo.

That sharp phone is soooo ugly... it hurts my eyes....

And Mi mix is too big for me.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

Sharp had a good idea, just executed it poorly. The Aquos was interesting but it was ugly, full of compromises, and the specs were nothing special. However the fact that you can get the Mix for close to 500USD with 6GB RAM and 256GB ROM is extremely good value, even if it wasn't as crazy good looking of a phone as it is.

While no bezels are great for applications like a monitor or a laptop, they're terrible for tablets and smartphones. Unless touch rejection gets insanely intuitive, this just seems like a bad idea.
