Tek Syndicate is Burning

@LinusTech You should try and get Wendell on LTT staff, he's hugely popular, has a loyal fanbase, would be able to fix your servers and we might finally see LTT give some love to Linux.

I'm pretty sure wendell has a good job where he lives, IIRC maybe even his own business? Not even sure what he does TBH

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

LTT isn't the right platform. For one there seems to be an age/maturity gap, another is an overall mission disparity. e.g. LTT is focusing on media - bite-sized infotainment to maximize views; Wendell prefers a more practical, technical approach.

Damage control in full swing. To be honest though it's probably the best thing Logan can do right now. The Internet does like to take non factual posts/comments and run with them as though they're factual.

Take my news post from yesterday, a few people got refunds on NMS and all of a sudden it's a fact that Steam are accepting refunds when we now know that's just not true.

I started watching TekSyndicate before LTT and I quickly started to dislike it. I did not know why but Logans personality seemed weird to me. First I couldnt quite grasp what exactly I dont like on him but over time I realized that he is a LOT self focused. I watched their videos less and less untill I stopped completely. I only checked once a while to see some content from Wendell as those videos were always of much information value and entertainment.

So, just quickly chiming in, in terms of the size of their buisiness (small), counting in they just had a huge expense (moving, as far as i know without a loan) and guessing they paid off all monthly expenses (staff, rent, etc.) especially for the buisiness practisces they promoted last time i checked (no sponsored trips, preferably no sponsored reviews, etc.) having 13k left over isnt bad.

Some quick math on wendell's claim of the 120k /yr (guessing the exact number, mobile ;) )

120k/yr = 10k/mo

If a staff member wishes to receive a 2k paycheck, that's with taxes probably barely enough for 2 extra staff members, and the required extra gear. (Editing rig, cameras, microphones, the office itself. LMG wasnt a happy company running from that house, honestly even the new office is pretty small in the large scheme of things.)

A few other things i wanted to say :P

It's gone beyond that though, Wendell has already said TS is almost certainly finished and Logan is painting himself as the bad guy in it all so he can't just sweep this one away. Better to prevent the rampant speculation from occurring than trying to deal with it after the fact.

Bahahaha, is Qain seriously a "network engineer"? The guy has no fucking idea about the first thing networking related.

Like, I have never heard him say anything that makes any sense networking wise. He could not even get basic things like "5GHz is worse at penetrating solid objects than 2.4GHz" right. His explanation of IPv6 made my head hurt because it was so inaccurate and stupid.

Forgot to say that I am happy this is happening. The Kek has been a cancerous channel which has done more harm than good.

Also, I am 99.9% sure Pistol is a trap. Don't know why people find him so attractive.

Then again... There's quite some signs that qain's knowledge is limited and/or outdated at best.
