Games no more fun ?

EdoTensei

Since a week, I can't spend in the game more than 15 mins, even if before playing I thought that "oh I'd like to play that game", and after 15mins I don't even know why I playing it..

At first I thought that playing the same game, even after few years, is the reason I don't feel it, but back in days, I was having fun, playing the same game when there was some DLC released, like now wity Forbidden West and new 8h DLC.

I played it on PS5 when it was released (it wasn't a great launch, cuz was graphically unfinished), so I had to play at 30fps, but overall I was really enjoying the game, so now, when it is released on PC with DLC I thought I can play it one more time and play DLC then, but no..

So I tried to play RDR2 as I've never played, but same issue, few minutes and I'm not sure why I even playing it.. like I've lost interest very quickly.

And few other games.. just I feel like I've lost something, even tho I was enjoying gaming a lot, since I remember, and I'm 29, now so I had some gaming experience especially when I was playing on x360 and PS3 at the beginning 🤷🏻.

I don't know, maybe I burn out, or games are all the same right now, like different storys, but overall mechanics, open words, lots of side quests, it's not fun anymore for me.

I was thinking about changing a platform, like Switch maybe and try some more ambition games, than corporation one only made for money..

I think I stuck between two walls 🤦🏻

I had some ADD when I was a kid in high school, but since that I was so much enjoying games, that I could play whole week (between work and other responsibilities), without any since of boringness or something like that. It's not like strictly 15mims, just don't feel it anymore or burned out. I don't know 🤷🏻

sounds bit like a burnout, or dopamine overload perhaps, if you consistently played games

I just did, and still nothing, but interestingly there is same graphics outside tho.

I was being serious though. I was in the same mood as you are probably now and had no interest in games so I haven't really played anything for weeks and just watched YT for the most part. Had to find other hobby and interests and then I again found interest in gaming. Though I'm now way more picky about which games I play and I no longer play multi-player at all as I found that as the root of most frustration.

Depends what you're into, maybe check some older titles that you may missed for example. Number of new titles are not worth the money, maybe later on when they get fixed, released with more cut content and cheaper price. Reason I don't rush. If they stopped making games now, I'd still be able to play a ton of them.

Also maybe online games, can definitely burn time there. I have fun in games like WoW or other RPGs and FPS games, can never get bored just from those.

Indie games are what you need. AAA titles are super samey for sure these days, especially shooters, the indie scene is where it's at. Another crab's Treasure is an example of a very fresh experience

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Seriously just get some other hobbies/intrests.

Sounds like you hyperfocused too much on one enjoyable thing and burned out your excitement.

I play far less these days however when I do I enjoy it A LOT more. Too much of a good thing is a real issue.

Its not something more games will fix rn as the negativity seems tp have crawled into the whole concept of gaming.

Try different hobbies that also avoid too many interactions with a pc, tv or anything else you played games on

Play other games. Play less, find new things to enjoy.

While some games are horrible nowadays, a vast majority are pretty good.

basically... except i don't really like indie games... or early access for that matter... with exceptions i guess... but i mostly play what i would call "AA" games, cost the same as "AAA" games (or a bit less) but usually don't have a lot of dlc or "season passes" and are often made with much more love for detail,  sometimes even with better graphics because their whole budget didn't go into advertising,  sometimes not and its not even important,  one that i often remember enjoying a lot was VA-11 HALL-A even though im not into cyberpunk or indies, it was a genuinely interesting idea and surprisingly good story with good pacing...

Ok.  But if you are opposed to trying new experiences and experimenting outside your favorite genre(s), it's not surprising that you feel burnt out. You are essentially asking for more of the same, but different.

I'm in the same boat sometimes. It's the new games that get worse every year (imo). Nowadays I mostly stick to games I've played over and over again, but I still enjoy them more than most new titles. Even recent hits like Palworld or Helldivers 2 didn't appeal to me.

What really lit my flame a few years ago was when I tried Dark Souls. That experience got the ball rolling again, and the genre turned out to be home to my favorite games of all time, which had been sitting in front of me all along. I was just too afraid to try something new and all the talk about the difficulty of these games always put me off. Now my taste has completely changed and I feel bored and like I'm being spoon-fed if the game doesn't try to challenge me.

Over time, I've just come to accept that 99% of the games that come out aren't made for me anymore. Every once in a while, one of those 1% comes out and I get another game to add to the collection that I play through from time to time. I haven't bought a new game since Elden Ring came out, and that's okay. And many of these 1%ers have modding support, allowing you to experience new playthroughs over and over again.

These are a few examples of my favorite games that never get old for me:

- Dark Souls: Remastered
- Dark Souls 3
- Bloodborne
- Elden Ring
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
- Terraria (+mods)
- The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim (+mods)
- Cyberpunk 2077 (+mods)
- Siege of Avalon
- Brütal Legend
- Mordhau
- Fallout 4 (+mods)

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Id say get out of your comfort zone for a bit, I was really into shooters then fell off, got into survival/crafting games, now I'm bouncing between survival and survival horror, little adrenalin rush when you unload into an enemy and they just wont stay dead can do wonders lol, as also I saw mentioned before maybe look into some older game that you missed out on, for instance when Dead space2 came out I really wanted to try it but didn't have game money at the time, time passed ,forgot about it, then recently seen it for like $4 🙂 best $4 spent on a game for a long time, now I'm wondering if I should grab the original remake for $20

Ryzen 5800X3D(Because who doesn't like a phat stack of cache?) GPU - 7700Xt

                                                           X470 Strix f gaming, 32GB Corsair vengeance, WD Blue 500GB NVME-WD Blue2TB HDD, 700watts EVGA Br

~Extra L3 cache is exciting, every time you load up a new game or program you never know what your going to get, will it perform like a 5700x or are we beating the 14900k today? 😅~

well think of how many games come out in 1 year
There is maybe less than 100 triple a games, out of how many smaller big studio games (like, sadly given what happened, hi-fi rush) and how many indies that get pushed out
Out of sheer statistics, even if all Triple A games are crap, there is enough other games out there to browse and balance it out, and thats not counting games that already have been produced and published
Nothing (well except stupid publishers and developers) stopping us from playing older games that are good

well yeah... i dont think my post got across what i wanted to say: stop playing trashy "AAA" games that basically always play the same and the "problem" should hopefully go away.

idc what other games you play,  they're probably all better than *most* "AAA" games...

(personally i don't like "indies" especially not ones that are published by big publishers and thus not even indies lol... Helldivers comes to mind, hate everything about this game especially the "gameplay" its basically "AAA" camouflaged as "small indie studio")
