Trying to maintain the same grip whilst firing a semi automatic at a decent rate isn't exactly going to work.

Pistol, I generally just take my time and focus on accuracy since I'm still something of a novice level shooter, still don't really need to reposition my hand much, even with my .1911, or my XDM which is polymer grip only.

Rifle.... even with rapid fire you shouldn't really need to reposition your hand all that much. Sounds like the gloves are doing more bad than good if your having to reposition every few shots.

Although I share your negative opinion on rubberized grips, this statement leads me to believe that you should really seek out a local firearms trainer. Even attending a local IDPA/USPSA match and talking to a few people who really really know the mechanics of shooting would really help you resolve that issue.

With a proper technique, you absolutely can shoot just as fast as it can mechanically function without having grip problems. Of course your accuracy will limit how fast you really want to be shooting, but grip should not need to be re-positioned while shooting.

I am far from having perfect technique, and still have lots to work on after years of shooting USPSA, but after talking with lots of different competitors and taking several firearm shooting classes over the years, I've improved a lot.

Bob Vogel is an IDPA badass and has a few pretty good videos:

I'm going to have to disagree to an extent. Intermediate calibers and up, it's just not possible to pop off a dozen rounds accurately while maintaining the same grip with any expediency. Your grip will naturally shift to counter recoil. Keep in mind, this isn't in the context of shooting in general, just with rifles.

Hell, even with the 20 round Redball magazines for my Carbine, it never hangs up.

You're probably already aware of this but Hi Point pistols can be lightly modified to accept those Redball magazines by shaving off the extra grooves on the magwell.

First time assembling an AR 15.

Just the lower and barrel currently, will be piecing it together bit by bit.

Looking for it to be a pretty light weight build, got a pencil barrel and have been looking at carbon fiber handguards.

Yes, that is a Star Wars blanket.

I was so focused on the parts, I didn't even notice until I read that, and initially I read it as "Star Wars barrel".  I was looking really closely at the barrel to figure out what you meant. :D

You have an anime avatar and your opinion is thus invalid and incorrect.

It's a tired joke at this point.

Everyone thinks they're funny and original when they say it.  I find it rather irritating at this point.

Thanks.  I've been looking for another flashlight for another one of my rifles, I'll check them out.

I have very serious doubts about their reliability, quality, and durability. Nevermind the abysmal ergonomics.

Look at any of the countless torture tests on them.  They're quite reliable and durable.  They aren't a 1911 or a Glock, but they sure as hell are good enough, especially for the price.

Those countless torture tests often conclude in mixed results. Some work, a lot don't.

A new addition to my firearm bucket list:

I really want an AK-47. I mean a real AK, not one of those modified semi auto ones.

There are a pile of them on the registry. It's not cheap, but not impossible.

  1. Good luck.
  2. No, you don't. A REAL AK47 is an unreliable piece of shit that was quickly phased out for the Type2A milled AK49, or a Type4B stamped reciever AKMS.
