Taylor Swift calls Apple Music free trial 'shocking, disappointing' in open letter

Taylor Swift has just posted an open letter to Apple entitled "To Apple, Love Taylor" explaining why she's holding back her latest album, 1989, from the new Apple Music streaming service.

 

"We don't ask you for free iPhones. Please don't ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation."

 

Apple Music launches in just 9 days’ time on June 30th with iOS 8.4. Users will be granted a 3 month free trial to the service. After that time, it will cost $9.99 for an Individual account or $14.99 for a Family account for up to 6 users.

 

Me personally I don't really stream songs often as I'm one of the few people on earth who still prefers physical discs and sometimes buys songs on iTunes as we don't have Google Play music here in Malaysia.

TL:DR: petulant artist doesn't like free promotion despite having millions of dollars at a hands reach

 

also comparing free iphones to a trial period is as absurb as comparing a 1k PC to a console

that bitch also complained about spotify offering "free" music, artists should get their heads out of their ass and start making good music instead of wondering about money since she is very likely to have tens of millions already.

If Apple wants to lure customers to a paid Apple service with a free trial, it really ought to be Apple taking that loss. I don't think Taylor Swift would really starve without this money, but she's basically right to reject Apple's shenanigans. Ultimately, she has every right to choose who she wants to sell her product to.

 

Of course, if she gets too greedy, people may just pirate all her music.

She still has a point. Doubt apple will give you a 3 month no pay period on any of their products. She's there to make money.
