Who has the most unbalanced PC build?

asim1999

An i7/i5k series should both be cheaper than a Xeon hands-down... You aren't spending any extra and you're getting better performance for your money.

I don't know whereabouts you live, but in the USA, you're spending a LOT less on even the top of the range Core i7 vs any Xeon.

But whatever floats your boat. It's not my money being, well, wasted....

I live in the US and the Xeon E3-1231v3 is $253 at newegg.

I'm not talking about the expensive moar corez E5's that make sense for servers. The E3-1231v3 is a cheaper i7 4770 minus 100 MHz turbo clock and the IGP.

If that's what works for you then go ahead. Make sure you have a GPU obviously.

Linus actually did a video on it:

Surprised the hell out of me when I first saw Intel made a Haswell Xeon that was just basically an i7 for $60 less. I'll be using it with my MSI Gaming R9 290.

I get the Xeon is a bit better but I needs meh overclocks. It feels so good to say "ETC CPU running at 4.5 GHz!"

I have 12GB. I guess my system is automatically superior to his.

Careful or he might try to download more ram.

That's definitely crazy. Why the Pentium with that beast?

Not saying it's unbalanced, but an AX1500i for a rig that on overclock hits 500W.

I'm running an overclocked phenom II 1090t at 3.6 with 8 gb of corsair vengeance at 1600 but clocked down to 1333 to match my 4 gb corsair xms 3 with a pretty decent board with a 750w power supply, now a while ago i had to fix my gpu and had to use an old geforce 8600 as backup. those were fun times...
