Who has the most unbalanced PC build?

asim1999

No one thinks a computer with a p4 and a gtx 970 is unbalanced?

Several reasons bro:

1) non K-series CPU on a Z97 motherboard

2) if she could even overclock, the cooler is meh (a hyper 212 evo would be better)

3) A mini-ITX board in a full tower case ( LOL, seriously).

4) A 1500W PSU with a mini-ITX mobo ( u can only install 1 graphics card so i dont see the point)

5) a 2 year old 680 with a new haswell PC ( i might get some negative comments but why is she using such an old GPU: a 780 or 290 would have been better tor live streaming).

So here are my reasons for why she has an unbalanced build

Im using a 580 and a haswell xeon xD. A 680 is very capable gpu and she isnt playing crysis or anything all that often so theres no reason to upgrade. Agree with the mobo, psu & case.

A 680 should max out 90% of the current titles since my 580 does just without msaa :-)

I used to have a gtx 550ti with my i7 2600 (I didn't game as much back then so technically it wasn't as imbalanced for my needs) so there you go.

What?? Did he buy it at best Buy, or was it hand-built?

Also, this kid at my school has a 4790K and an HD 5970. WHY, JUST WHY.

Him: " DUDE, my gaming rig is SO awesome bro, it's perfect, it has 4 GB RAM"

I have 12GB. I guess my system is automatically superior to his.

Mine is pretty unbalanced. R9 290 GPU with a Pentium G3258 CPU. But I'll be replacing the Pentium with an E3-1231v3 in the next couple of months.

Don't get that CPU. Get an i7 4690k, not a locked server processor....

An i5 4690k will do you well too....

I don't know all the specs, but I know a guy with a I7 4770k and a gtx 750 and insists its the ultimate gaming rig. At one point he was sure that vram was how you could tell how good a PC was and thought his 5 year old laptop with 2gb vram was better than his friends gtx 670. This was a year ago before he got his custom rig. He also insists it needs watercooling. Kids these days.

You sure its a custom rig and not Alienware?

Without lights and alien heads it can't possibly be the ultimate rig.

Haha no he ordered it from a custom building site which charged him $1600 for it. He was so proud of the Pc that he "built" that he went around giving people terrible tech advice for months, including me . Something about getting more ram will help my performance I think. Come to think of it I'm pretty sure his build had lights to. :D

I don't want to spend all that extra money to overclock. The cost of a 4790k would be $340 for the CPU plus $90 for the z97 board plus $30 for a heatsink, so in total it would be $460. For a 4690k it would be $230 for the CPU plus $90 for the z97 board plus $30 for a heatsink, so $350 there, and I wouldn't get hyperthreading. I could care less if the Xeon is called a server processor on the box, since it's still just a Haswell i7-4770 minus an IGP, with ECC memory support, and clocked with 100MHz lower turbo.

An i7/i5k series should both be cheaper than a Xeon hands-down... You aren't spending any extra and you're getting better performance for your money.

I don't know whereabouts you live, but in the USA, you're spending a LOT less on even the top of the range Core i7 vs any Xeon.

But whatever floats your boat. It's not my money being, well, wasted....
