What would you guys want to become standard on PC hardware?

theroflcopta

For me it's right angle 20+4 pin connectors. It just baffles my mind that so many high end mobo still angle it up when they have use right angled sata connectors it just confuzzles me that some 350 dollar mother boards dont have this feature. *cough* Asus *cough*

post-7478-0-10082900-1403150927.jpg

i'm also including right angled USB 3, frick it just right angle all the connectors on the right side of the mobo it makes cabeling look SOOOOO much cleaner :I

Yeah I would like this too, but only EVGA does it...

Maybe they have a patent or something and dont let other manufacturers use it?

Let's see, it isn't much.

  • Right angled connectors
  • No brown PCB if the rest of the build is black, blue, yellow etc etc
  • Better stock coolers
  • No more ugly rainbow colored wiring showing. PLEASE SLEEVE THEM!
  • More front USB 3.0 ports
  • Less expensive ;)
  • Dust filters for the fan positions
  • Purple theme mobos :)

I can't really think of much else at the moment.

Dual Bios. I made sure my GPU had dual BIOS because I like to flash bios' a lot. If I screw up or lose power I want to be safe and be able to switch to the other bios. Makes it a lot simpler and worry free.

1. Screwed heatsinks instead of frickin pushpins on every board below $200.

2. Standardized sizes for all ATX boards. Seriously, narrow-ATX is really pissing me off; there's 0 physical support for the right side of the board on ATX boards that aren't wide enough to fit the standard third column of screw holes, it makes putting in DIMMs, USB 3.0 and 24-pin power nearly impossible without fear of breaking the board.

3. USB 3.0, USB 2.0, front audio, front panel io, SATA, ATX12V/EPS, 24-pin all on the edges of the board for mATX and mITX. It's seriously annoying when it's put right behind the rear I/O panel.

4. Permanent moratorium on uncooled D-Paks. Seriously even budget boards can have a simple heatsink like this http://www.pcstats.com/articleimages/201203/gbtx79ud5_d5.jpg

5. Ban on bright blue for mobos and Sapphire cards and brown PCBs for ASRock, Asus and MSI.

6. That Raidmax / Coolmax go bankrupt so we don't have to deal with new builders buying their POS products anymore.

7. Stock coolers that resemble LGA1366 stock towers.

I agree with JJ from Asus when he was doing a video with TekSyndicate for Z97. He proposed a modular rear I/O. How great would that be to get rid of...let's say VGA or DVI on a motherboard? It's basically phoneblocks for motherboard I/O.

Right angled USB can cause a slight signal loss. (Which was talked about by JJ, I think in the Tek Syndicate video.)

Right angled 24 pin can cause issues with case compatibility. (Talked about in the same video I believe.)

I'd still love to see them, but only if done right.

I would really love to see cases and motherboards made, so that stuff like the 24 pin, 8 pin, and all headers were on the BACK of the motherboard, so that wires would attach from behind the motherboard tray.

Hell to the no on the right-angle cables. I don't build wasteful builds in full towers, anything that can cause problems in a midi tower can get bent. The dumbest builds out there are the full towers with liters and liters of empty space in them.

What I want as standard is for Killer and Realtek (and whatever OEM Killer sources from, Qualcomm?) NICs to just die already. Realtek can live, but only in budget stuff.

Put dual Intel or Broadcom gbLAN on everything.

Also, no tiny banshee-screaming fans on motherboards.

No unsleeved cables on anything above $50.

No cases with both a window and sound dampening material. Try to please everybody, you end up disappointing everybody.

RAM comb "heatsinks" to die a horrible death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

WiFi on motherboards. Not everyone needs it, but enough people do that it shouldn't be a special feature.

And general screwless installation.

Case HD and power LEDs and reset switches motherboard pin-outs so we could use a standard "case connector" plug.

Sockets for GPU's with a direct interface to the GPU

another more realistic thing would be memory that the CPU and GPU can both access simultaneously being standard.

For Displayport, Thunderbolt and Lightning to be the only connectors because the others are shit.

Enough said.
