Technology that should never be invented

WaruSaru

I was wondering what other people think about this sort of thing, so I decided to open a thread about it.

Can you think of a piece of technology that usually seems like a good thing to invent, but if used for evil could also be extremely bad for humanity?

I'll start with one thing.

You all probably know the idea of that helmet that you put on and then suddenly you know physics or whatever else right?

What if terrorists decide to use that helmet to learn how to build bombs?

What if someone decides to hack one of those teaching programs and release it online, but also decides to add something to that program, like if he wants it to teach people to hate America / Canada / Israel or whatever other country?

What if people will use this program to learn how to hijack cars? To learn how to hack to different places?

It will save a lot of people a lot of time, humanity could move forward much faster, but if used for evil, damn, we are all done for.

So do you guys have anything like that?

This post has Watch_Dogs written all over it.

Well actually I started thinking about this years ago, didn't even think about Watch_Dogs when I wrote this post... but hey, if this post is even relevant to recent things then it just makes it better.

Watchdogs should never have been invented, it teaches kids how to hack. According to Glenn Beck.

Without talking about obvious stuff like the a-bomb, certain religions etc.

Here's a few:
-Purposeful obsoletion i.e. stuff used to work for 50 years upon purchase, now you need to buy a new one every year
-An extension of that would be the type of products that don't allow you to switch one component/fix it yourself e.g. Apple products.
-Superpacs
-Paid DLC
-"Season passes"

-The Jerry Springer Show and all types of extensions + reality shows that follow around idiots (I find reality shows that focus on a particular skill or passion to be fine)
-Super insane airport security, it's just not necessary for the most part

-Income tax >20% and to add to that corporate tax evasion
-Circumventing the hemp car that run on electricity for the oil/combustion engine & steel/alluminium

-Uggs

30Hz isn't a technology... and everyone probably thought it was the shit when 15Hz was available.

My contribution is the anti-matter making thing-a-ma-jig they made with the two atoms colliding at high speed.

are you talking about the large hadron collider or just particle accelerators in general, the thing that is giving us lots of cool data? either way i don't see a single reason as to why they shouldn't exist.

Nuclear energy.

again, i don't even know where to begin, i wouldn't exactly call it an invention of ours, geothermal energy is to some extent a result of so called "nuclear energy", the world wouldn't function as it does without it, and how about those deep water microbes that survive nearly exclusively off geothermal heat aka radioactive decay, that gives us more hope to believe in extraterrestrial life, besides it has great potential to provide us clean energy, and it kinda is the stuff that holds everything together, all the matter you love and are so familiar with, i'm just mixing everything together to a messy crock pot as the post is too vague, "nuclear energy" can be alot of different things, besides isn't nuclear energy in the conventional view awesome? you are basically splitting atoms.

OK I will clarify what I meant.

Nuclear reactions instigated and controlled by humans, there are a host of benefits to harnessing the power held in atomics, but there have been a couple of large scale disasters with long lasting effects, and our development of atomic weapons which is what I'd call the evil side.
