ok everyone, we need to have a discussion about something that should never have been invented. It makes the most polite people rude, the most literate people idiots, and causes an infinite amount of headaches. I refer, of course, to the mobile phone. You see...Here's the thing - you don't need to be in contact 24/7 with the rest of the world...In fact it's brilliant to just get away from the noise and chatter. Try it! It'll give the friends you don't see so much more to catch up with you about, and make that time more valuable! You'll enjoy doing things like reading, or god forbid looking out of the window, and I think in the case of most people, you might remember that vowels exist.

 

While we're talking about it, your mobile phones don't need to be unreasonably loud, and you don't need the latest ghetto rap tune as a ring tone; and it certainly doesn't need to be so loud that everyone around you can hear it. And then, finally, there's the cost. Surely you realise that the flashy phone with 4g connection, more processing than several thousand parnetted amigas and a screen with a higher resolution than your desktop makes you a target for a pickpocket? Right?

As for those who mentioned nukes. Japan got nuked and now is a nation that leads the world in tech. Maybe the dirty south could use one or two drops.

I think that has more to do with the carrying of pride and the mentality to improve upon what we already have that got them to that position in technological research.
