Lets share our "not recommended" things that we do to our computers. (Inspired by video about slicks build)

So lets share things that we do to our computers that are bad/not recommended/ghetto.

I have my ssd mounted to the top of optical bay with blue electrical tape so no one can see it. Than the inbuilt fan controller that was in my case (define r4 /w window) are now a dangling near my psu because for some reason when it was on my front panel it would not make good contact which resulted in fans turning off. In my previous case (in-win dragon rider) I had fan in the optical bay which was held by rubber bands. Since that case does not have any rubber grommets I have fabricated my own with guess what - electrical tape, black one this time. Ohh and feet on that case had fallen off,  so I sew off legs from an old chair and attached to the case, now the case if placed on the floor is about the same height as the table.

Dont't leave your case open when it's under table. You may put your foots to fans, pull out GPU etc.. :D

  • LN2 CPU overclocking. Not recommend unless you know what you are doing. (I don't do this on my main computer)
  • Voltage hacked MSi Afterburner to give me +100mV. Really bad idea, the extra performance is not worth it, but it's still pretty cool

I thought I had more, but for now, this is it

I didn't attach a fan in my case properly because I was being extremely lazy when building it, so the fan will vibrate and create a loud buzzing noise.. Since I'm too lazy to put in the correct mounting screws, I just have a piece of tissue just jammed up against the side of the fan to help prevent the vibration.

tbh, I can't think of anything else too bad that I do with my PC.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Ohh I remembered one more thing, backplate for my h100 is installed the wrong way so two of the cores on my cpu are always about 6-7 degrees hotter than the other two cores :( I should probably change it, but I am too lazy and it does not hurt my temps very much

I've got the extra usb pci bracket thing from my motherboard laying on the bottom of my case and a WD external harddrive plugged into that.

Learning I shouldn't run my computer as hard as I do accepting damaged solders and a capacitor having it's internal stuck on top of it. Learned the hard way when it locked up in a game and began smoking.. D; Now if my money could come quicker, I'm starting to get worried about this poor motherboard.

For shits, I made the back exhaust, an intake and the front intake the exhaust...

Let's just say my CPU was idling at 40+ (on desktop) - and the cooler fan air flow was directionally opposite to the air flow.

After a day of seeing what would happen, I made everything normal.

Don't Cut sleeving from PSU cables to the blank metal and wrap a thin layer of isolation tape around them, since they'd otherwise interfere with a case fan and you were just to lazy to remove the MB to access the fan ...

When I first built my media PC the Sata power plug had a bent pin in it that I wasn't aware of. When plugging it into my SSD I broke and bent the power connector on the SSD. Now every few hours due to the virbration of people walking around my house the power cable to my SSD will come loose and I have to keep pulling off my cases side door to push it back in. Very annoying. Have a new SSD to replace it. But to lazy to spend the 3-4 hours to customize my media PC the way I like it agian.

I surprisingly do it every first sunday of the month like clockwork. Pull it out on my back porch and air dust it out along with using Q-tips between every fan blade and radiator fin.

It is way to much hassle.

I have dust rings in the front where the fan is on the grille. Not cleaning it. My computer is just a giant air filter. xD
