Cats are good for that. My dummy of a dog also has a habit of walking between my legs from behind me and catching me off guard because he’s too lazy to walk around me…. He’s 70 pounds…

I've got a 70lb golden, 45lb hound, and 8/5/2yo daughters... they alllllllll have their own way of getting under my feet. Sometimes, it seems like they are competing to see who can do it first.

Our elkhound (35lbs) loved sitting right in the corner between the stove and the counter to wait for scraps to drop, and our lab/pittie would be no greater than 6 in away from you at all times when you had food. no begging, just the drips of drool with the big puppy dog eyes.

That being said, my aunt's two dogs are like ninjas when it comes to being under your feet. One is about 16lbs and the other on a real heavy day is about 6 (adorable little fluff ball cloud with eyes that are far too big and look like a chameleon). Both of which will find any way possible to get as quickly under your feet as possible, and when the shortest person there is 5'10: it's a problem.

Quite Cold

Noise:

quiet, too quiet...

Result:

Windows update caused a hard crash, and the PSU was clicked off perhaps? Took 3 attempts to POST, required power to be removed and then cable to be reinserted.

Strange to say the least.

This is why you pause Windows updates for a month during folding month. 😉

Fortunately I was reminded during the test period before the event started, by a random update reboot.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) + GL.iNet GL-X3000/ Spitz AX WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)

Its oced to 4.1ghz

I think ill get a w3680 soon just to screw around with high freq ddr3 (>3000) since my 930 can only do 3100

but i do have an asrock b75m and if flashing it to the z77m bios will make it overclock then i can also get a 2500k for 8$

Curious as to how a ~4.8ghz 2500k would do against a 4.3-4.5ghz westmere/gulftown 6 core folding wise

The x5650 apparently gets around 80k ppd

Hey I'm not knocking it. My 2696 V4 isn't all that much newer. These old chips still work and can still fold. Every little helps. For all we know the WU done on an old westmere chip will be the one to unlock a new treatment or cure! So keep folding, on whatever hardware you have!

X5650 avg is 36k per CPU and a 2500K is 25k

Intel 6th/7th Gen is where you get a much bigger jump and can actually do ~80k PPD per CPU

I get ~20k per CPU core on power efficiency optimized Zen 3 cores as a reference point, which is about the same as highly clocked Intel 6th/7th Gen.

I guess I am the only who is about to join dead hardware section of this folding month with online UPS lol. I guess swapping its 60mm jet fan with a noctua variant wasnt that smart after all.

minus 1 GTX1080 for folding I guess.

Unfortunately, nothing builds static pressure like a good blowymatron.

Indeed.  My ITX build I really wish there was a big centrifugal fan that could pull air from both sides and fit to a 120/140mm exhaust port.  Would actually be way quieter than the 140mm Noctua Industrial I'm having to use.

Damn only 36k for a stock x5650?

I guess clocking the thing to 4.1ghz and running a dual rank ram config helps even if its at a pitifully slow 1870mhz

If i do end up buying the untested w3680 that also has an i7 930 included alongside it which i problably will as i want a better imc particularly a better nehalem imc then ill see what the w3680 can do folding wise, though probs not gonna be able to run full 3000+ ddr3 on all 3 channels till i get a better board =(  though it does seem like ram usage is <3gb most of the time so if dual channel doesnt nuke folding performance at the speeds ill run it at (>3200) then sure why the hell not just for shits and giggles and also for degradation testing as its quite likely ill be running at ~1.7v vtt

Now to find an ic that doesnt suck for performance but is also good at freq and also gonna run dual rank (no 4gbit ics), and currently my 2gbit cfrs are kinda shit only doing 2800 11-14-15 at 2.1v, my 1gbit gdies are unstable, and my pscs are garbage. Currently interested in samsung 2gbit d dies as it seems like they can run 2800c11 at only 1.8v and they scale quite abit with volt

And the w3680 should be a better bin so 4.5ghz ish is what i can expect but if my 120mm ish ancient xigmatek cooler can handle more voltage maybe i can get this thing closer to 5ghz

Kinda curious as to what ppd you get on your 2696v4 since that is a 22 core chip albiet no turbo unlock

Huh

I guess spamming cores also works for folding

I wonder how an amd epyc cpu would do for folding since naples 32 cores are selling for peanuts nowadays (<150$ last time i checked) and the boards are also becoming pretty cheap (<200$)
