Speaking of, I forgot mum had put her food on, she fell asleep and I dismissed a faint sound that could have been the microwave timer going off (seriously, why don't they make them louder and more obnoxious?).  A few hours later.....

There's something very wrong with his circuit or too much CPU folding.  I run all my hardware off the same ring circuit as well as the AC unit and its not half its current rating, even when I then play on the PS5 at the same time.  My peak power consumption is less than even a radial would handle.

I wonder if its an earth leakage problem rather than current, that can cause premature tripping.

In this case. The server just crashed caused I have closed the door to that room with the kitty and it got too hot. I opened the window and it should be fine now

Just want to second this. One of the coolest parts of these events, to me, is seeing all of the varied hardware people manage to get up and folding. The highlights for me often aren't the giant beefcake GPUs people are throwing around, but the more inventive or unusual setups -- this particular go around, something I've really liked getting to see is the usage of Pi-based setups (and a network video recorder of all things!) from @AndrewHamOp @Oestle and @HoldSquat. I think it's pretty incredible that we've managed to get tiny power-sipping ARM boards to a point where they can complete WUs in a timely manner, and seeing people tinker with optimizing overclocks on them makes me want to pull my own Pi out of storage to play around with again.

Do it! The hurdles I had to jump through were entirely because I'm ADHD out the wazoo and wanted web control over both my PIs. Getting FaHClient running was no trouble at all, it only took me like 5 minutes!

Every little bit counts right? Just imagine how much folding we could get done if everybody grabbed their old smartphone (not sure if FaH could run on android, but it certainly can run on ARM!), Pi / Pi Clone, or whatever silicon they aren't using and started folding! I'm about to break 20 million points myself, and while I know that's nothing compared to the insane people who run $3500+ servers, I'm proud of the WUs I helped to finish. It's certainly been a workout for my old GTX 980 but I think it's actually been a plus, since my fans are quieter at full load now! 🤣 My 7800x3D hasn't cared one bit and I actually managed to get my temps down to ~67C at full load using 85w. Granted I had to open my window and use a box fan to draw in 40F air, but it was a fun experiment nonetheless...lol

Dogs + blanket and I was fine that night...hahaha

Fail - First. Attempt. In. Learning. Just because you fell flat on your face and knocked out a tooth the first time doesn't mean it's not worth trying a second, third, or fourth time. Keep trying until you run out of teeth! If you're still trying, they also make pretty convening dental implants nowadays... Don't give up because someone told you.

You should really let somebody check that. There might be a loose connection, or two for that matter, that gets hotter when you use more power and might burn your house down. If you are lucky, it’s just an automatic circuit breaker that is slowly dying.

Circuit breakers never fail prematurely…i think one of the reasons the lady that owned my condo before me sold it was the upstairs I couldn’t even run my TV and computer without tripping the 15a breaker my father and i had replaced all the outlets and switches as most of the switches where still mercury based…noting was wrong with the outlets replaced ALL the breakers after discovered that and boom i can now pull 15 amp happily. Yes most of the breakers were from 1970s when my place was built.

(One of my neighbors back in the day warned me electricians where over ALL the time and she complained about those issues) Luckily i got some $$ off as i wanted the switches and outlets replaced or 1k off…she got quotes and said you can have the 1k off lol) i spent ~800 on switches outlets and circuit breakers back in 2014

Indeed.  My ITX build I really wish there was a big centrifugal fan that could pull air from both sides and fit to a 120/140mm exhaust port.  Would actually be way quieter than the 140mm Noctua Industrial I'm having to use.

Does it have to pull in and exhaust out the port, or can it pull in from the port and exhaust out the sides?  It would be much easier to swiss cheese the side of some straighter bladed fans to make the later happen.

I'd fold on my old iPads if I could.  Right now they're just waiting for me to eventually get around to finishing up some home automation so they can become wall displays for dashboards.

These days they pressure wash them in the rack after shutdown before removing them for sale.  So you'll never know....until it corrodes badly in a year.

Does it have to pull in and exhaust out the port, or can it pull in from the port and exhaust out the sides?  It would be much easier to swiss cheese the side of some straighter bladed fans to make the later happen.

It has to pull in the sides as one side is the GPU and the other side is the CPU AIO.  The CPU ran too hot with the AIO as an exhaust.  Its actually an annoying design as the GPU also vents into the PSU directly which I don't like.

There is a top vent too for the PSU and another fan (that won't fit with the AIO), but the shelf its on limits this so mostly I think the PSU vents by being pulled out the back too.

To be fair its only a big deal during folding month when its running flat-out 24/7 so it sounds like a data centre.  That and I had to CPU fold on it too due to the random crashes as idle issue I didn't have time to figure out before the event.

I'd fold on my old iPads if I could.  Right now they're just waiting for me to eventually get around to finishing up some home automation so they can become wall displays for dashboards.

I used to use my ASUS T100 tablet as a wall clock, but its developed a well reported issue where it periodically stops powering on until you let the battery completely drain.  So I replaced that with a portable monitor plugged into my Mac Mini, which I only use over a tigervnc virtual desktop so its main output was free for this.

I just helped my father pull some 2 awg wire 4 of them about 120 ft in a conduit it SUCKED!!!! Luckily he listened to me and went with 2” conduit rather than the 1 1/2” he was planning on…its for the service in his Rv/Detached garage.

Did you use cable lube? Dish soap also works for install, but you'll never be able to pull the cable back out by hand once it dries.

There was an android one at one point.

We used Ideal lube on the front end.  We hope we never have to pull it out lol…we didn’t use much…may have been part of the issue lol…we had 2 90s and a ~30 degree sweep in it the last 90 well curse words where said…

Yeah, you really can't use too much of that stuff.

I'm so glad our new office has raised floor and cable trays instead of conduit in the slab.
