I really need to figure out how to handle websockets in PHP.  I tried looking but all the examples are about creating a websocket server, not a client.

My current system works in reverse, I have a PHP script called for each v7 client which converts the v7 output into a v8 compatible format, so that the web page doesn't need to know which is which.  For v8 I cheat, it opens a websocket, gets the data then closes - rather than the intended behaviour of keeping it open and listening for updates.  I tried to do that, but would always end up with my data in an inconsistent state.

It all relies on a web page running locally making the json output for the public site, and it randomly breaks because debugging Javascript is a PITA.  It currently misses uploads and download states, used to work, I broke it, no clue what I did. lol

Seriously though, I've had family members with Breast, Lung and Stomach Cancer - so I do have a vested interest.

 

If only all those people during the mining boom had been Folding instead though.  I found it hard not to be angry at all that energy effectively wasted for nothing, especially when you consider the pollution from it will lead to more Lung and Skin Cancer risk, even ignoring climate change.

Just so we're clear, when I say F*#$ cancer, I mean like... the disease. I'm all for fighting the disease (duh!) and don't care if the WU kill my PPD or anything. It's an expression a lot of people (typically on the younger side of things) use to describe their thoughts towards it. A little tongue in cheek

There is even a show on Disney+ called "More Than Robots" that goes over a bit of what we do).

FIRST!!! As a former high school physics and engineering teacher, I definitely know FIRST and boy howdy! is that a LOT of work in a very short period of time. Wowzers. It's such an awesome program. If anyone hears that there is a competition happening nearby, you should go check it out. It's inspiring to see what the students produce and just super fun to watch the games.

Last years event the Cancer WU's PPD was pretty bad. But this year they are some of the best PPD on my 4080's and 4070's.  

 

But of course..... F*#$ Cancer... It's one of the main reasons I fold.

I also say F&$( Alzheimer’s My Grandfather (father’s father) had that dreadful disease… hence, all my devices are set Alzheimer’s… but recently they’ve all been fighting cancer, so they take what they get.

And this... THIS right here... is why I enjoy folding and this forum. Everyone has their own stories, their own reasons, but we're all here for something. And everyone supports everyone else and their reasons on their journey through Folding.

I understood what you meant, my response was in-kind.

 

Also been fiddling with my site again (mostly struggling to get HTML to layout tables how I wanted), curious how my calculations don't match the spreadsheet.  Then again, F@H often miss the first update of the day and it gets summarised in the next one so my pulls are 5 minutes before the hour to try to catch any late updates, which probably is why.

Cats are good for that. My dummy of a dog also has a habit of walking between my legs from behind me and catching me off guard because he’s too lazy to walk around me…. He’s 70 pounds…
