copyrighting it would be a disaster to the copyright/patent system and transferring ownership of said copyright/patent

we hear about gaming companies using others art/photos/etc for their own projects (topics here in past)

artist can now create something and simply make it into nfts would be like digital serial number so companies or other entities can just use it and then use their money to steal it

this would also allow many artists to make 2d/3d models and companies simply purchasing said assets from multiple different artist outside their own company if they have to and these artist wouldnt have to worry about them being stolen like whats been happening

 

 

just look how programmers have their code which we seen many companies steal and get caught because its copy and pasted how do these artist/photographers/etc get paid when these companies steal

 

think of it as social patent system for creators and using blockchain to do good for something

 

I use to sell paintings for 250 to 500(physical items), never got into digital paintings because my hours of work  could be easy stolen with a click,

this would help creators/artist plain and simple

That's great and all but now people are selling nfts of other people's art so now they have the social patent for it and the original creator is screwed?

just like when www started people grabbed whatever they can because www.whatever.com could pay off lol

Legal documents are frauded all the time and this takes into account virtual assets and doesn't require a physical medium to work.

I kind of said it but I will say it again, NFT's won't matter as long as it isn't official and most likely it won't be official as long as the system doesn't respect the old system. You can search Openseas and find the Mona Lisa NFT and most likely it isn't NFT'd by any of the owners of the couple real Mona Lisas and definetly it isn't NFT'd by the artist. Mona Lisa is pretty good example for that it has been NFT'd but also that anyone can use it as they wish because it's in public domain. Now if we would say that Openseas NFT system (we will get to this problem) would become the official and their ownership would be respected as copyright, what would happen to Mona Lisa? Would the owner of the "Mona NFT Lisa" claim royalties from using Mona Lisa and to what extent this actor could affect the use of Mona Lisa?

 

The second problem is the amount of systems. Nothing stops anyone from making their own NFT system to challenge the Openseas, just like nothing stops anyone from making their own cryptocoin and actually with coins that is kind of a big problem for that trust they claim coins come with. With coins it's pretty simple, yes you can make a lot of money by investing low and selling high BUT that isn't the end game, the end game is to have your own coin because that will make you filthy rich and fast if it takes off.

Currently NFTs are like the Dogecoin, some take them seriously but it isn't Bitcoin serious for the world, if they would become the Bitcoin and they wouldn't have solved the problem of anyone being free to make their own, everyone would make their own and that would be quite a bad thing because then you would have Openseas as the original challenged by other systems made by art galleries, investors, most likely US and EU government made systems and probably a ton of others. And all that because the one who manages to get the most official recognition will have the power to name their prices, their rules and their polices and the rest of the world will need to follow the suit and just suck it. And if/when one system goes globally official, even if the registering cost was 1 cent per art piece and they charged 0,1% from the selling price for registering the trade, that developer will become one of the most valuable companies in the world over night. And trust me, no matter who it will be, it won't be free.

NFT fraud doesnt exist. If it was stolen from you its a security issue. Just as how bitcoin addresses are anonymous until you tie identifying data to it or stolen due to bad password practices

I've seen a number of artists i follow say that random people have gone and made NFTs of their art without them knowing and successfully selling it with none of the money going to the actual creator of the art, just the creator of the NFT.

no, they are selling NFTs. Big difference between selling the news and selling images of human suffering as part of a money making scheme. They are donating "a portion of" which means basically nothing.

No, you aren't causing a homeless man suffering by tossing (not throwing or injuring) coins at him, he is suffering due to being homeless. By tossing coins towards him, you are over all doing "good" by donating to him, but you are dehumanizing him and morally bad for taking advantage of his situation by making him entertain you by watching him pick up the coins.

Think of it like this, its like the difference between a photo journalist and paparazzi. Both have basically the same job, take photos of people, but their moral values are near opposites. One is doing it for the greater good of society, the other is doing it to make a quick buck.

I personally don't see any reason why selling such media would be illegal, unless you're directly causing such situation to occur for the opportunity of the photo/video to happen, then it would be a different crime unrelated to the media

right, I wasn't saying its illegal, I was saying its the worse legal thing that can be sold. I can't think of another legal thing that would be worse to sell. My issue stems from the morality of it, not the legality. I'm using legality as a reference to how morally bad I think it is.
