Well Apple las lots of custom hardware and low level software on their iOS devices that the system won't run without, much more complex than on PC hardware.

No such hack exists so there's nothing LTT would be able to show.

There's a big-ish story going around in the fighting game community that 50% of players are using WiFi. In discussions online most people defend their use of WiFi out of ignorance or perceived difficulty to run a cable. 

 

 

I think a LTT tutorial on just how easy it can be to run a cable would be a super useful resource to pass around to these people.

 

Some topics can be:

  • Examples of why wifi is bad for online gaming/how it manifests (here's a video with a fighting game dev going in depth on it 
     )
  • How to make an ethernet cable (since buying a box and making your own for you and your friends can be vastly cheaper than buying premade ones)
  • How to get a cheap cable and run it across the floor
  • How to neatly run an exposed cable, with clips and proper wire management
  • How to run cables through the walls (maybe feature Brian the electrician for pro tips?)
  • How to convince who you live with that their lives will be better wired too (wire up the parents' Roku for reliable streaming. Less things on wifi means the things that have to use wifi will work better.)

Its an idea for a video were you mine on the mac pro killer(or the conputers of the warehouse ) using nicehash as its interface is easy to use see how much the computer could spit out in return💰

Nothing at least for bitcoin, only ASICs make any kind of sense...

Can the blue 2-in-1 operate better with a different operating system? Not sure if it's a hard ask to see Anthony install a Linux OS on it, but it would be interesting to see just how different the performance would be using an OS from the USB type-C connector, or installed right onto the flash storage to completely replace Windows. (The studio could also squeeze a "How to install Linux on USB with EFI" video out of it.)

Short answer: No.

 

Long answer: It's no longer the OS that's causing issues, it's the Internet.

The Internet is the killer app that everyone has been looking for.

That laptop is too weak to function on youtube on high quality, for example. The OS will be immaterial for this, the basic hardware is simply too weak to function effectively on the 'net.

 

Now, you can get a super ultra lightweight distro of *nix that will make the laptop faster, provided you don't put it online and try to use it for anything other than text-only browsing.

Issue is with cheaper laptops tend to use stuff from some OEMs that basically give no importance to Linux drivers. (Like realtek and broadcom). On that note, I specifically got myself a cheap HP laptop that has N3060 and 4G ram to force myself to use Mint on it. Main issue has been the realtek wifi card all along (and due to having whitelisted bios I am pretty much stuck with it). I wouldn't expect miracles, things like hw accelerated video is actually WORSE on Linux due to lack of support. Content DRMs are buggy, and still causes issues. Gaming is also is still not as good compared to Windows. Either way, I support the cause, definitely think @GabenJr should make a video on it.

Video suggestion from me.

 

With the rise of Folding at Home, why don't you build a single system that runs as many GPU's as possible? For example, on my X570 motherboard, I have 8 GPU's running on it, with 6 GPU's using 4 lanes. I have a bifurcation card in the primary x16 slot, and an adapter for the nvme slot (Using the CPU lanes).

Alright. I have seen this graphics card, EVGA RTX 2070 SUPER XC Hybrid GPU, which I found quite interesting, because I have never seen such design. I am wondering if the temps would be better compared to fully air cooled unit and fully water cooled unit and if so, is there is some performance boost or if it is worse, will it termo-throttle and clock down? Of course, I would love to see the teardown.

Even if the machine doesn't improve per se, the machine with lack of telemetry would be lighter on resources and potentially be a smoother experience depending on desktop, regardless what distro is used, so long options for compositing exist (to disable it) and it's a featured-enough desktop for general use.

 

I still believe there is value to be had here, even as a Linux installation challenge for Anthony to overcome.

No telemetry or anti malware will reduce the occasional load when those things kick in, but still rendering a website takes the same "effort" regardless of the OS, and that was unbearable already.

My Galaxy S8+ Emperor Edition is still strong and kicking, but won't be getting Android 10 despite being a much more powerful phone than many newer versions that are getting it. Perhaps a show that brings to attention the fact that a lot of premium phones become throw aways after  just 2 years because NOBODY is offering software support. Heck, I'd be more willing to pay a subscription fee for that even before I would consider paying for phone "insurance" which is a thing. Are there any premium phones that will provide software until the hardware will no longer support it?
Additional possibility could be, what premium phones are the best bang for the buck considering how long they get O/S support from the manufacturer. Love my S8+, still feel it is relevant, but really angry at Samsung that they aren't supporting me when I paid premium prices. This will be a major factor in the next phone I buy. If a phone is going to become out of date every two years due to software issues, I will likely just invest in throw away models. No point in spending on hardware that becomes waste every 2 years.

Anyhow I think there is a very valid point to this content and I am sure it affects alot of consumers.

Thanks for all you do, your various productions keep me sane when life does not otherwise make sense while living abroad in a foreign culture far from home.

Their Highest Consumer amount is Two Terabytes (per user) and only costs 7.99 Per Month(per user).

Yes I live in the states but I was wondering if you can do a video of water cooling a TV box/cable box. More specifically the Dish Hopper 3 or anyone because those things get freekin hot and they are as loud as a server sometimes with the dainty little fans inside. I looked throughout all of YouTube and no one has documented such thing on this concept. I hope someone will do such a thing. I think it'll be fun and a major performance boost. Also further mentioning it would very awesome if you ripped out the hdd and replaced it with a ssd because those things are slow. If no one gets around to doing this I personally respect that because business is business and you don't have time for every suggestion.
