Me. 8:05 out of bed (yes it takes 5 minutes to get out of bed) and by 8:15 im out the door.

Personally, unless I'm extremely tired, I can't go to sleep before 10:30 - 11:00 (was always like this, all the way back to my teenage years in the 90's). If I don't have an alarm and let myself wake up naturally, I don't get up before 8:00 - 8:30 ... not sure if 10h of sleep is healthy or not, but that was always the amount of sleep I would get if I don't have to get up with an alarm (now I sleep around 8h, but with an alarm, or my daughter, whatever yells first).

Well yeah of course we stay up until past 12. I often still have lots of necessary and/or fun stuff to do, so I automatically don't go to bed early. Waking up early would then mean I didn't sleep long enough, so I wake up later. If I go to bed early (before 00:00) I generally cannot fall asleep (quick enough), so it's a bit of a waste of time to try to start sleeping by then.

 

If there's something important early on in the day, yes, I will wake up for it. I'll just pretty much automatically also not get enough sleep, because I have too much to do to allow me to go to bed so early, and if I did try I wouldn't be able to sleep. Apart from not having slept enough, and having less time the night before, I don't have too many issues with waking up early.

I'm not. I get up early anyway but I usually don't do much right away. I also hate that I have no appetite whatsoever in the morning. 😞

I can barely even stay awake past midnight anymore and I wake up around 6 to 7am. And even there, I often wake up around 4am, only to lay in bed until 6. So I'd say yes.

 

Once you start a routine of getting up at the same time and going to bed at the same time... It's relatively easy to do.
If your sleep schedule is all manner of messed up, don't expect to be able to wake up early. I go to bed around 10~11pm
If you have trouble sleeping at night or to adjust your sleep schedule... Just use high dose(5~10mg) of Melatonin to forcefully reset your internal clock. Within a few days you'll be back to a "normal" sleep schedule.

Absolutely not. I stay up on weekends playing games until about 1 maybe 2 in the morning, and on weekdays I have to get up for school, which isn’t fun either. If I didn’t have these things to worry about I’d almost be an insomniac. If none of these things apply I will sit and lay in my bed until 1 in the afternoon.

I'm definitely more of a morning person. I absolutely hate sleeping in, and I hate staying up late because it means I either have to sleep in, or be tired the next day. I'm always up by 8am and usually get in bed by 11pm, which means I've fallen asleep by around 11:30-12. I used to get up between 7 and 7:30 every morning, but over the past year or so my waking time has slipped to around 7:45-8.

I am fortunate I can go to sleep instantly, and wake up instantly, alert and ready for whatever.

Been that way all my life, regardless of the amount of sleep I get.

It seems most people are not.

As such, it seems I am in good company. I have never been a morning person, though I've found in the last few years that it's better if I try to be; getting up late, while amazing in it's own way, sets off my whole day wrong, I'm lethargic and have no motivation and sometimes feel almost sick, especially when it comes to having no appetite. I'm quite lively at night though, I can be wide awake at 1:00 am with heaps of energy, intense motivation, and a burning desire to DO THINGS! In general though, I try to get up at a reasonable time and go to bed at a similarly temperate hour. I try hard to get at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night (it rarely works, unfortunately).

What is actually supposed to go here? Some people put their specs, others put random comments or remarks about themselves or others, and there are a few who put cryptic statements.

I’ve been through jobs and school where I had to get up really early, but it’s not my preference. I do somewhat envy those that can be really motivated early in the morning.

Sorry, I am the morning person. I wake up 5-5:30, shower and go to the gym. There is no bump. But I do go to sleep super-early too, at around 10:00. 

 

I have met a few people though who go to sleep at like 1, and wake up at 5-6 as well - that is crazy!

A morning person is just someone getting adequate sleep and living a healthy lifestyle. You aren't suppose to feel like shit for an hour after waking up

Slowly becoming one lol

If I go to bed late not a chance I'm getting up early unless I have to, but sometimes you have to.  Recently I was up late playing monster hunter with a buddy and drinking a bit and I told my cousin I would be at his place at 8 am for a hike and he lives about an hour away.  I was there hungover and tired but I was there haha

Most nights I just try to sleep early so I don't mind waking up early

My sleep schedule shifts around a lot, usually shifting a few hours later every few days.  So sometimes I might be a morning person, sometimes I might not.

 

 

I'm trying (with difficulty - can never seem to get everything done I want to in each day - maybe it's approaching time to upgrade from my 🥔 i7-4790K + 32GB RAM desktop / i7-6700K + 64GB RAM laptop? Waiting for DDR5 & past early adopter tax though...) to get my sleep schedule more stable / consistent, so that I WOULD be a morning person. ☺️

 

For example, I'd like to be able to get up between 1-4 am or so, so that when I can find a job, I can go to work early enough to completely miss the rush-hour traffic.  The freeway ramp signals here come on at 6am so I'd want to be at work before then; also normal traffic flow outside normal commute time is about 80 mph / 128 kph or so, which is a comfortable driving speed for me.

(I've seen it as slow as 55-65 / 88-104 as early as like 5:30 or so sometimes, on some freeways here in San Diego.  I wonder if there's any IT jobs that don't need a degree, I can work with my hands with the hardware (with as little time as possible in front of a screen or with a ⌨️ / 🐁, I do that plenty at home), and be at work before then?)

After all, there's a few verses in the beginning of the Bible that say, in part, "the evening and the morning were the (first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth) day," it doesn't say "morning then evening were ... day".

 

So for those like me who believe that book, the morning is at the END of the day and the evening at the beginning. 😛

There are other issues if you're waking up like that. I'd take a look at a few things, including your sugar consumption. Try cutting it down, or cutting it out completely. It can have dramatic effects on how you feel when you wake up.

 

Another thing to do is get the proper amount of exercise during the day. Helps your body fully shut down at night, deeper sleep, etc.

Even things like having too much light in the room you're in (from LEDs, etc) or having a running electronic can affect you.

I know I should probably not have my PC in the same room, but for now that's the setup.

The fact you get cranky when your phone is away from your bed is a pretty telling sign of a serious issue.

It took forever to find the exact time that I can wake up and be a "morning person." It is exactly 5:13 AM. Waking up a minute before or after results in grumpy tyrant Den (instead of regular tyrant Den). DST beginning or ending messes with this for about a week or so.

The whole problem I think most people have with waking up, isn't the waking up part but being woken up by some external factor (like an alarm).

 

Although I don't tend to get up very early, it does happen every once in a while that I just happen to wake up at 6:30 for no apparent reason, and when that happens I feel just as good as waking up at 9:30. When I get woken up by an alarm however, even if it's at 9:30, that always sucks.

 

It kind of makes sense actually; the fact that you haven't naturally woken up sort of means you aren't done sleeping I guess.
