Summary

Overshadowed by the Apple Event today, Beats announced "Beats Flex" bluetooth earbuds that are $50. The earbuds dangle around the user's neck, and have a new acoustic driver and better microphone compared to its predecessor, the "BeatsX." The battery life is 12 hours, with USB-C charging. They are available to preorder now.

My thoughts

I wonder how good the audio is compared to chinese earbuds at around the same price. Overall, it's nice that bluetooth earbuds are getting cheaper.

Yeah I'll stick with my anker earbuds that have an 18 hour battery life and probably better audio quality, for $20.00

 

Only complaint is the continued use of micro USB.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

Does anyone actually still buy Beats? I used to see them all the time especially on the tube in London but the last couple of years they've sort of disappeared into the ether. 

 

I assume that even their rabid fans realised they sound like shit at a quarter of their RRP.

All the people that used Beats are now using Airpods. It's not about the sound quality, it's about the image, and Airpods are the new thing to be seen wearing

I would not be surprised if this is so. “I’m with stupid” t-shirts were a big thing at one time.  I doubt humanity has gotten any smarter.  Fashion has been ludicrous and repetitive for many many years.  Bell bottoms even came back for a while. 

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

My main beef is simply that they're not water-resistant (or at least, not rated as such). They'd be great workout earbuds for the money, especially since a bass-heavy sound makes a lot of sense in those conditions.

Im sticking with my airpods that i got for 100 and have gone through the washing machine many times and are still working perfectly. only complaint is battery life
