Irrational? Now that's a big word. There's usually legit reason to fear something. With spiders, there's quite a few legit poisonous ones and considering you can't just take 5 minutes observing them closely before they run and hide, you may as well just kill them ALL on sight like some crazy mf.

As for insects... Well lets face it, they are just creepy and you don't know if they have bacteria on them or whatever.

 

Personally, I mostly fear the night. Going out after 10pm... is a big nope for me. My heart race like crazy when I have to, my eyes are peeled, my ears are listening to every little sounds... and I'm just expecting some ahole with a knife hiding in those bushes on the next corner, ready to either kill and/or rob me.

small spooders, mainly the ones that are lighter coloured

 

larger spooders like tarantulas don't bother me that much somehow, i even poke a giant tarantula with arrows in an mmorpg once in a while

 

oh, and the possibility of failing a school class will drive me insane

After awhile of listening to scary true story's on Youtube, I have to keep my closet all the way closed during the night. it's because in most of home invasion stories, the culprits are hiding in room closets.  I actually used this as an example for a psychological term (forgot the word though) during my psychology college class.

I realized that I'm not really afraid of death.  I mean, I don't want it to happen prematurely, but if I end up lasting to, say, 92 before withering away from cancer, I suspect I'll be more comfortable with it.

 

Don't get me wrong, I'll be sad that I won't get to see what happens next, but I just see it as "lights out" and rejoining the planet.  In many ways, humans are just the universe observing itself.

At this moment in time most people should be answering 'COVID-19' , just look at how much they are doing and how much they are giving up for 'protection' against it.

 

 

For me, when i was a very young kid i used to have a fear of the eyes of teddy bears looking at me at night.

Also to some degree the darkness you see when looking underwater in a large pool or the sea.

and ofc by association fear of Death.

 

Nowadays though, cant say anything get s to me. Once u get over the fear of Death, irrational fears kinda go out the window. At least from my point of view.

I find the night more calming than day myself  Don't know why, I guess there's just less going on at night than during the day. I guess if you live / are at some shady location things would be different.

 

I'm afraid of heights to some extent, I don't understand how some kids can climb those tall buildings etc. on youtube with no safety measures. I could never do that, then again most of us couldn't I think. Maybe it's not even an irrational fear... I mean if you fall from a tall place you will probably die, so... Yeah no thanks!

The ocean and by extension, pretty much any large body of water that I can't see the bottom. It's legit terrifying just thinking about it.

 

Fun fact: picked up Subnautica as a friend recommended it for me because it's a puzzle game like Half-Life...so he said. It was VERY terrifying for me and I had to fight every time to go further into the story. Today, I can't play it with headphones in a dark room even though I now what most of the creatures are and have beaten it already.

Flying cockroaches, I'm fine if they don't fly.  Those start flying, well, those are going to be dead cockroaches pretty darn fast.

Ehh, the spider's you usually see ( atleast in the U.S. where I live ) are nonvenomous. A lot of people are afraid of those really common house spiders here. Even with the case of black widows, I just keep like 3 feet of distance and its not like they are going to chase me or something

 

Flying insects on the other hand tend to creep me out a lot more, because they can actually chase you if they want to.
