lol well i plan on getting a 5800 or 5900 later next year when amd releases and prices fall. im a amd Kid grew up on amd after my first experience with them in my compaq presario 5284 only ventured to intel when intel released the core 2 quad(Bought the Dell xps 700 still mad i sold it loved that case) and the bulldozer Epidemic(my xps 8910 is the side effect of the Bulldozer).

Hello! So my GPU is only working about 30%, but my CPU is about 98%, is my cpu bottlenecking the GPU?

Is there a advanced setting so I could add another work unit simultanious on my one graphics card?

Or make it push harder on the GPU?

Thanks Want to output more with my graphics card, its a gtx 1060 6GB.

Configure a CPU slot and that will take care of your CPU utilization being low. Or if you already have a CPU slot configured it likely just can't get a Work Unit (WU) right now.

EDIT - at 98% your not going to get anything more out of a 1060. Adding another GPU Slot ontop of the existing can be done but it WILL tank your points. Expect about 400,000-500,000 Points per day off that 1060

Edit2 - read that backwards. You have to look at Compute in Task Manager to see how busy that GPU is really. Should be 95-98% busy on Core22

you watching it in task manager? it aren't showing you real usage

I'm an AMD fanboy as well. I still have an All-in-Winder and a Rage64. My daily driver has a FirePro W4100 driving 3 1080p display port connections and consuming 30W

But unfortunately AMD's drivers kind of suck for folding so up to now I've had just NVidia for folding.

I have 2 RX5700XTs on their way here to try them out but they're stuck at the local UPS Depot and apparently won't be delivered until Monday.

I'm really hoping AMD gets their OpenCL worked out as Navi shows great potential for folding. Though for gaming the 5700XTs fall somewhere between a 2060 Super and a 2070 Super their folding performance seems to be about 750,000PPD versus 1.3 - 1.9MPPD for the 2060S and 2070S

make sure for Nvidia you enable cuda in task mgr or compute for amd see below In those dropdowns there will be a cuda option if you have nvidia.

Are you using Task Manager to look at GPU usage?
If so, be sure to set the graph to 'CUDA', as Task Manager splits different sorts of workload percentages over different graphs. 'CUDA' being the graph where you will see F@H usage.

Alternatively you could use a program like HWInfo64/HWMonitor/MSI Afterburner, which will just display how much your videocard is being used.

Hey guys so I'm not new to computers or linus tech tips but I am new to folding as well as the forum. I've been folding on 2 systems and my main system had an error come up today and I was wondering if someone could help explain if the error is on my end or not. I got 34% through a work unit and it looks like I got an error. Work was being run on a EVGA FTW 3.0 1070 with +75 core and +400 memory. Is my overclock too high? Here is part of the log files.

i would remove most any OC on GPU Un less its a factory OC as F@H is hard on the videocard but you can try halving the OC first

Nice - I'm guessing the 750kPPD figure was on the older Core21. That makes them much more attractive. I'm re-imaging a system with Win 10 Home 64 tonight to test the cards under Windows before I try them out under Linux (the AMD Drivers on Linux are still 19.?, released in December)
