Cooler Master is in Tier B

As long as it's full-range version, not 230V only. As of ripple issues, it may have been fixed in the majority of units on the shelves but really, for a low-end PC if you really insist on buying a cheap PSU it's not much of a problem.

They are similar to the Chemi-Con KZE (1000h - 3000h @ 105°C), but are manufactured by Kaimei. They are always shown as inferior quality capacitors on forums like BadCaps or by reviewers like Aris.

Teapo SC's are  fine.  I'd rather have Elite's, but Teapo SCs are fine.

Too many armchair engineers out there.

Designed by Antec in California?!?!!

Never heard of that fan brand, BTW.

A very long time ago, you once said that capacitors have very different behaviours depending on how they are used ;
You were specifically referring to the fact that a specific capacitor might do a great job inside a PSU while being out of place on a motherboard.

I never got to read the explanation on why that is, and I'm still curious to know why Teapo SCs carry such a bad reputation to this day ;
If it's not too much to ask, can you shed some light on this?

People can't read datelines.  They think the capacitor plague just happened last year.

Fun fact I found out today... I'm looking through BOMs and found that while all of my NCC capacitors are made in China, the 3300uF 16V NCC is actually made in Taiwan!  😮

I take it as you didn't evaluate this OEM/platform either ? Because that would be interesting, given that it doesn't use particularly common MOSFET brands. Didn't blow up on Aris at least (Thermaltake PF1) ...

These unknown OEM's with no desktop PSU experience scare me.  Time will tell.

Hey!

A friend sent me photos of this EVGA 500 BA we even made a video call to check it

here is what i found:

Dual Forward with passive rectification for + 12V and DC-DC

Teapo LH 420V, 390uF @ 85 ° as the bulk cap and all the other caps are Teapo SC

it has a Power Year 120mm PY-1225M12S sleeve bearing fan

But after a long time trying to identify the OEM I can't say anything for sure

Does anyone know which OEM this power supply belongs to?

What do u think about this PSU?

It's Andyson.

It's Andyson, as @Elisis said, the same manufacturer that makes the GA series.

It reminds me a bit of Compucase's platforms, but from the component selection, it looks like something typical Andyson: Power Year fan, Teapo capacitors and an Excelliance EM8654 controller.

It just looks a bit different to the Aerocool KCAS PLUS platform:

Yes, at first I thought it was HEC but when I looked in detail I realized that it was not so.

Then I was thinking about Andyson because of the EVGA GA, and I got a theory that the "A" was standing for Andyson after seeing a review of the GA
So EVGA G Andyson, EVGA B Andyson and so on

and in the end what I thought was not so crazy hehehe

thanks bro 😎

Edit:
This is not mine, this is from a fellow local tech community here in the Philippines, we don't have much details of what happened as per user it just suddenly happened.
Might also be due to a bad vrm of that motherboard?

 Deepcool | Quanta DQ - DQ-ST - DQ Evo

DQ 750 ST 80+ Gold with 5yrs warranty (few months old), caused an issue. 😞

Anyone else had negative feedback with that specific model?

Just noticed, it might also be a possible AIO leak if we see the white AIO on the pic. The user is not really sure what happened unfortunately.

Neither PSU nor motherboard VRM have nothing to do with this. Yeah, looks like an AIO coolant leak, i see some small drop of liquid and corrosion around one of the pins. What's the AIO ?

He said its the ID cooling-Zoomflow 360

the rig is just 6 months old. We suggested for him to bring the pc parts to a tech who can test the other parts if some may be still working except for the obvious ones that won't work.

Notice no mention of how the ripple could kill all of his parts.  But "he's in the industry".

Lol, I like how the thread starts so positively, with lots of photos and text—what’s the worst that could happen!—then *crickets*.

🤔 Interesting, but it seems like those PSUs seem to generate a lot of ripple, I wonder why...

Minimal components.  Because components cost money.
