Lots of complaints there about the price and being too close to Gold efficiency products.  What did they use for a reference point for price (MSRP?) and what Gold efficiency product is the same price?

The MSRP for CV750 is 96000₩($85)(same price as the CX750).

GreatWall E650, SuperFlower Leadex III 650w, Seasonic Core 650w, Evga 650GA, COOLMAX(Micronics) Explorer 750w (230V only XHY1408), ANTEC EAG 650W are pretty much the same, and with a little extra budget you can go 750w.

Tier A low priority based on the same platform used in TT TP Grand RGB Sync edition.

I know this is months down too late to ask but does that mean if they were of a comparable price the only difference is any features they have? The In Win P75 doesn't seem to have much reviews attached to it.

Yeah, just one :

https://wolflsi.pixnet.net/blog/post/69091440

And it actually looks like either it has somewhat better components choice than Thermaltake version or Sirfa have changed to beef-up the base platform.

Ah... They used MSRP.  MSRP is "worst case scenario".  Actual retail price is almost always lower (unless you're buying from a scalper).

Example:  The MSRP for CX750 is actually $100 USD.  TWENTY DOLLARS MORE than the MSRP for CV750 ($79.99).  They're not comparing apples to apples.

Well... the retail price is also the same.

I've said it before, the pricing policy of Comsvil(Korean Corsair distributor) is really weird. They sell the CX's 550W and 650W for about the same price, and the CX650F sells for about the same price as the RM750.

EDIT: I am sorry. I made a mistake. 96000₩ ($85) is the lowest available price.

And... All Corsair PSUs are sold for more than retail prices on Comsvil's official website. #

What are your opinions on Montech Century 650W?

It's in the list, isn't it ? CWT GPX, which according to Jon's tests fails the burn-in under 90VAC input. Might still be fine choice for 230VAC counties in the absence of better alternatives tho.

What would you say is the best WHITE 750w psu for a 3080 ti / 3090 on the list? Anyone with a nzxt h510 case, is the psu visible or pointless to bother with a rgb psu?

Most 750w PSUs don't seem to work well with RTX3090.

RMx White, SuperFlower Leadex Series 850w or higher.

If you want more detailed help, please create a new thread with a link to the store where you will buy the PSU.

[1] MWE V2 units have high ripple issues on very low load also resulting in increased coil whine, fix pending.
[2] CWT GPX based units have problems with failing burn-in test under sub 90VAC input, treat as 230V only, source.
[3] Units experiencing tripping issues with high transient power draw GPUs like AMD Vega and high-end nVidia Ampere.
[4] Two versions of Segotep GP-G exist, older v1 version is non-LLC resonant and they're very hard to extinguish externally, hence model tiering based on v1.

Voltages

12V rail

The most important rail in current PSUs, mostly used by the power hungry parts like the GPU and CPU, but also part of the motherboard and part of the molex connector.

5V rail

An important, but much less used rail, mostly used by storage and part of the GPU.

3.3V rail

A rail that gets less and less relevant, it provides power to the RAM (though this can be 12v as well these days), chipset and M.2 drives

Single- and Multirail

  Reveal hidden contents

Single rail

A single rail lets all the current of a voltage, in this case 12v go over a single trace or “rail” (see them as breakers in your house). This has the advantage of turning off less quickly, but does mean it allows full current to go through a single wire or connector, potentially melting or burning it before shutting down

Multi rail

Multi rail these days aren’t physical rails, rather they have multiple points where they measure the current (generally 2-8). it can shut down the psu earlier to protect itself, with a lower chance of burning through connectors and/or cables with a catastrophic failure.

Regulations and Topologies

Digital parts

Digital Monitoring

Monitors current and reports it to software like NZXT CAM or Corsair iCue, generally using the OCP rail to measure.

Digital Circuit

Analog and digital circuits at the end have one goal: transmit data and process information into other forms(sound, light, etc). Digital circuits function on two fixed signal levels, 1s and 0s(binary). This allows for better control of switching frequencies under different loads and can achieve really high efficiency, but is also much more expensive to implement

Specifications

ATX specification

A certification maintained by Intel that sets baselines for PSUs to meet.

c6/c7 crossloads

c6/c7 sleep states or “Haswell ready” connects to a sleep state used on Intel processors of 4th gen or newer. AMD has these sleep states too, but doesn’t specifically name them. most importantly it has to meet a crossload performance and that it has to be keepable to do a zero-load-power, that most group regulated units can’t meet, it’s highly recommended you pick something up for modern systems that meets this.

Ripple

Ripple is mostly the noise in DC not filtered out from the AC current. A high ripple can shorten part’s lifespan. Intel allows up to 120mV, but we prefer to keep it below 50.

Inrush current limiting

An inrush current limiter tries to limit inrush current, the instantaneous current electronic devices draw when turned on. This is normally done with a so called NTC Thermistor.

There are probably some minor BOM changes, perhaps @jonnyGURU could shed a light, but otherwise they're pretty much the same thing, yes. Except that CV doesn't have 230V only versions and CV650\750W are completely different.

Wait.. what?  Where did this come from?

First off:  There are no 230V Only Corsair units.

Second:  VS and CV450 and 550 are the same PLATFORM, but are not the same units.

The CV has different PWM MOSFETs, different boost diode, and additional Schottky diode on the +12V and a different output choke.

Admittedly i didn't even bother to look up the differences in teardowns, thanks for clarification.

About the 230V thing i recall you saying that Corsair doesn't do 230V VS anymore, i thought you were talking about CV, were you talking about older VS then ?

No 230V PSUs period.  Not since orange VS.  Too limited market (particularly for a North American based company) and too many RMAs just to save under a dollar a unit.

What would you say is the best WHITE 750w psu for a 3080 ti / 3090 on the list? Anyone with a nzxt h510 case, is the psu visible or pointless to bother with a rgb psu?

its not really visible and I would say pointless. If you did get one you may be able to see some light emanating from the grate holes that make up the PSU "bay" or whatever, but for the most part you're not gonna be seeing whatever is down there.
